In 1973, he joined the U.S. Navy through the Naval Flight Officer Candidate Program. He was commissioned in November 1973, and designated a Naval Flight Officer in 1974. At sea, Commander Doyle served as the last Commanding Officer of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron One Twenty-Seven QVAW 1273, decommis- sioning the unit in September 1991. His other sea tours include Operations Officer and Maintenance Officer of VAW 124 from 1986 to 1988, Personnel and NATOPS Officer of VAW 121 ffom 1980 to 1982, and Avionics Division Officer and Quality Assurance Officer of VAW 126 from 1975 to 1977. On 17 Iuly 1992, Commander Doyle assumed duties as Executive Officer of USS INDEPENDENCE QCV 621. Commander Doyle's shore tours in- cludeg Flag Lieutenant for Commander, Iberian Atlantic Area, Oeiras, Portugal I from 1978 to 1979, Commander, Naval , - I . -' A Q Forces japan, Yokosuka Iapan, as the I i 1 japan Maritime Self-Defense Liaison Officer from 1983 to 1985. KENNEDY QCV 673, where he served as a maintenance man and flight deck trouble shooter. In August 1975, Master Chief Allen began his first shore duty tour at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla., at the AIMD 185 First Degree Repair as shop supervisor. He began his second sea tour in October 1978, aboard USS MID- WAY CCV 411 as shop supervisor for AIMD's Power Plants division. ln March 1982, he reported to Naval Air Facility Atsugi, japan. While at NAF Atsugi, he served as AIMD Power Plants Division Officer as well as the Production Control Chief and Assis- tant Special Projects Officer. During his Atsugi tour, Master , Chief Allen earned a Bachelor of if Science degree in Business Manage- ment from the University of Mary- land. He was also awarded the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist QEAWSJ qualification. ln September 1986, he went back to sea aboard USS NEW ORLEANS A QLPH Ili as AIMD Production iii Control Senior Chief. Master Chief Allen was then .lssagnai to the COMNAVAIRPAC -:J Command Master Chief from August 1989-january 1991. He then ' reported to USS INDEPENDENCE QCV 621 as the Command Master Chief. His personal decorations include: the Navy Commendation Medal ftwo awardsi, Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Battle ftwo awardsl, Good Conduct Award ffour awardsj, Navy Expeditionary Medal Qtwo awardsj, Southwest Asia Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon ffive awards! and the Overseas Service Ribbon. Master Chief Allen is married to the former joanne Nolan of Pensacola, Florida. They have one son, Christopher and a daughter, Delhia.
