at ,, 202 Rosie Valadez and Diana Kruger show Lit Mag is serious about submissions. They Have Printe1 s Ink in Their Veins Perhaps the hardest working students within the school itself are those dedicated individuals who make up the publications' staffs. What other school organization has its members sacrifice their open mods, weekends, senior sign-out, and possibly risk getting several ulcers for little or no tangible credit? What is it that inspires such dedication? It is true that the benefits are limited in real evidence, but myriad in terms of skill and experience. Knowledge of one's contribution in the produc- tion of a publication that many people will pick up and read, either now or in ten years, remains one of the most satisfying incentives for the people who staff the newspaper, the literary magazine, and the yearbook. In order to keep up with the changing of the times, these people intoxicated by printer's ink adapt themselves to many situations to smooth the process of understan- ding for others. The Literary Magazine improved the collecting of literary submis- sions by placing boxes in every ad- visory. Consciousness was raised in another way by bake sales, reciprocation coming in the form of Ode to Chocolate Cake, a poem by Elena Cabral. The newspaper wrote profiles c some students and continued tl opinion polls carried on in at visories. Readers were never su: of the results until the next issue 1 The Star. The fashion layouts wei especially enjoyed. The yearbook tried once again 1 get every person in a candid pictui at least once during her high schot years. Covering world news, nz tional and local news, and the mo important news of the school itse kept Magazine Journalism cla: busy.
