68 Seniors Receive Blessed Class Rings Friday, Sept. 20 marked a spe- cial day in the lives of 68 seniors as they received their coveted class rings in one of the school's most significant traditions. 98 As a remembrance of this oc- casion, a picture was taken with the seniors in blue uniforms form- ing a 25 in honor of the twenty- fifth anniversary of the school, and the freshmen forming the let- ters l W A, while the sopho- mores and juniors, in contrasting white uniforms, formed the class ring. The ring is made of ten carat gold with a sardonynx stone upon which is raised the emblem of the Sisters of Charity of the lncarnate Word, a crown of 'thorns encir- cling the monogram of the Holy Name of Jesus, l. H. S.. under which is a heart surmounted by three nails and bearing the motto, Amor Meusf' Above and below the emblem are a fleur-de-lis and a star sig- nificant of the City of St. Louis, and of the foundation of the ln- carnate Word Order in Lyons, France, in l639, and subsequent extension to Texas in I866. This is the same class ring that has been used since the founding of the Academy.
