In France in IS66, there occurred The founding of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. Through the zeal of Bishop Dubuis, the Order had its birth. ln Galveston, Texas it first displayed its worth. From there the Sisters turned their efforts to San Antoneg Through their schools and hospital God became known. St. Louis became in their lives a vital part I And in l932 they there gave lncarnate Word Academy its start. Through the years they portray that symbol of faith and hope and truth Leaving a lasting imprint of God on the heart of youth. Here are the first graduates of Inearnate Word Academy. fleft to rightl Rosemarie Bcffa, Sarah Mogab, Margaret Mary Hanick, Gertrude Ann Killed, Mary Catherine Chamblin, Margaret Alice Jehle, Gertrude McLain, Mary Jane Hanick. N!! Q 1YQ '? K 2 '5:32,,'m like The true teacher must suffer and do. He must break bread to the people: he must go into Gethsemane and toil up the steep of Golgotha .... Some- times I think that to be a woman and to serve and suffer as women do is to be the highest thing. Perhaps that is why I felt it proud and wondrous to be a teacher, for a teacher does that. I gave to the little lad I taught the very flesh and blood and breath that were my lifeg I breathed into him my spirit. Padraic H. '62 A K9 .J The Junior Class The junior class has worked wonders with the aid of its officers: Margie Schmidt-President, Bridget Lawler-Vice-President, Kay Coughlin-Secretary, Jeanette McCanng and its monitor, Sister Josephine, in promoting a unity and friendship among its classmates and that of the rest of the student body. They worked hand in hand to start off the year with a big bang in planning the Junior Silver Tea, which was held at Eileen O'Keeffe's home on October 20. The tea was a huge suc- cess as the girls showed off their pretty sheaths and full dresses to one another, as everyone crowded into the house to get refreshments. As soon as the tea was con- cluded, the juniors began planning the Junior-Senior Prom which was held at Mercy on January 24. Everyone's dream was fulfilled as they danced to the beautiful music which all came to an end too quickly. Another unforgettable event was the Father- Daughter Banquet, to which we were escorted by such handsome dates as our own fathers. Then came the Junior-Senior Banquet, bidding a final farewell to the marve- lous seniors in whose footsteps we will tread. It was a wonderful occasion at which we had a super-special time. And let us not forget Field Day when we ate, drank, and laughed to our heart's content. This year has been one of unforgettable experi- ences full of the pleasant memories of years to come. -mn- . we 3' 5, Teamwork is the key word in the operation of the Student Council.
