Highlights en route were mediaeval Bruges, throbbing Brussels, the lime- stone caverns in the Ardennes, the terraced vinyards of the meandering Moselle, the castle-guarded slopes of the Rhine Gorge, historic l-leiolelberg-and a 6-day vacation in Interlaken, gateway to the beautiful Bernese Oberland, Grindelwald, the glacier village, Lauterbrunnen with its majestic and thundering falls, motor-free Murren reached by precipitous funicular, Mannlichen by cable car, Bort by silent chair lift, Wengen by cog railway, alpine rambles beneath the Eiger Glacier, the trip over the Grimsel, Furka and Susten Passes with their hairpin bends and ever-changing glistening vistas -these were amongst our unforgettable experiences. Homeward bound and Paris beckoned - les artistes de Montmatre, le Tour Eiffel, Notre Dame, le Palais ole Chaillot, and in the floodlit evening a stroll and supper along fashionable Champs Elysee. 74 What a gateway!
