Foreword iI ':, Q g Q gf: I1 'f4Q ,,f,fk', The history of Imperial Grade and High Schools is the story of rapid growth and development. In the fall of 1953 at the Tabernacle near Big Sandy, Texas, seven students and two teachers embarked on a new venture in the field of education-a venture which may well serve as a model for training children in the future. 1 Few, if any, schools have begun in a more modest fashion. Two years later, however, another establishment was founded on the property of Ambassador College in Pasadena, California. To- day, with plans in the offing for a third school near London, England, the enrollment stands at 450, and many prospective students have had to be turned down because of limited phys- ical facilities and the spiraling costs of furnishings and sup- plies. Along with an increase in trained, dedicated teachers have come necessary aids to lea rning. Libraries of the two schools continue to expand, modern laboratory equipment assists in the teach- ing of science, and adequate athletic facilities assure a sound program of physical development. Yet the primary goal has never consisted of numbers or phys- ical facilities. Imperial stresses growth in CHARACTER and in SERVICE. Here the basic fundamentals of all knowledge are taught: what the world is about, what the purpose of life is, and where one is going.
