IN QX I L f 'A filled wsth the ever mystersous wonders of the awakening of Sprsng was especsally beautsful thss year as we became more and more aware of the fact that a new awakening was soon to happen to us sn two short months How we counted every one of those wonderful days' The bsggest social event of the whole year for us sensors took place on Aprsl seventh our Sensor Prom How we had looked forward to this our last dance as students of Immaculate Trsps to Hahnes were daily occurrences for the gsrls as they tried to find that certasn special dsess and new hairstyles and cuts were tried out The fellows became busy washmg thesr cars pscksng up thesr tuxes and vssstsng the Horsst to arrange for those orsgsnal corsages As Aprsl seventh the day waned snto Aprsl seventh the evening Moms and Dads were busy tying ties pressing yards and yards of net and calming shattered nerves The convent at Immaculate was the scene of much coming and gosng around 830 as couples arrived and the gsrls psrouetted around sn the front hall to the admsrsng smiles of the Sssters before going on to the Montclair Womens Club where the dance was held The mght was beautiful and clear and the strains of Pat Boones lovely melody Aprsl Love popularszed by him lust cs few months before really took on a special meaning for us About half way through the evening voting took place among the sensors and sunsors present for the King and Queen of the Prom As the results were announced we were all enthussastsc over the choice of Alex Scaff and Angel Quatrella who were as deserving of the honor as anyone could have been After the Prom we were off to varsous nsght spots to really make thss a night to remember Lets go to the Rustic Cabin became a standing loke after we discovered that st had burned down a year ago Aprsl seventh passed as all thsngs eventually must do and Aprsl eighth brought stsll more good times as most of the sensors left brsght and early for the shore Without our actually realszsng st thss event seemed to be for us sensors a last salute to our chsldhood before clossng the door to our youth behind us Hidden beneath th fun and carefree spsrsts there was a lsttle touch of sadness for the days when nobody had really expected us to act like adults The Prom was talk for days of course but after the excstement had left us we settled down to wonder about the fortunes of the baseball team Wsth our versatile Mr Garvey again at the helm the newly reorganszed team ensoyed a successful season The retsrsng members of the team Terry Coen Johnny Robbins Alex Scaff Al Burton Vsnnse Lambsase Jerry Gardner and Mike Zambrs stacked up their bats for the last tsme and left the ranks open for the underclassmen They left behind them a terrific spsrst for the sport whsch was not really very much supported by the student body Another thsng of snterest dursng Aprsl was the tentatsve organization of a track team under the mentorshsp of Ed Kirk Aprsl evenings found the members practicing prsvately logging up and down thesr respective streets getting into condition whsle Mr Ksrk prepared to be dsscharged from service The fortunes of the new track team wsll be of great snterest to us sn the future We hope that st wsll be another rung sn Immaculate s sports ladder to success So we left Aprsl and sts showers wsth the thought that May flowers were sn store for us ll The girls psrouetted around to the admiring smsles of the Sisters.
