f.-A 1,4 N.J ff W -f X started as all new years begun but for us ut had a new meanung 1958 our year our last year had begun We now had only sux more months as senuors' The class of 58 was well on uts way to maturuty Sports topped the popularuty poll durung January and our spurut was not even dampened too greatly by those dreaded mud term exams Dreary gray typucally dusmal January days passed quuckly by because of thus Basketball season for the boys started un November and reached uts peak un January Much to everyone s delught our team took first place un the Chrustmas Tourna ment beatung Thomas Jefferson and Montclaur Hugh Sunce we were the only Catholuc school un the tournament both faculty and student body were mughty proud of our boys Bob Lamb the captam of our team receuved a trophy for beung the most valuable player Jack Mount for hugh scorer and Alex Scaft for best play maker Immaculate was really un seventh heaven that nught and we senuors wull never forget ut We want to thank Mr Gavrey for doung such a wonderful cocuchung 'ob and the team for show ung us that real team work as nobody els could To the senuors who were on the team un prevuous years we congratulate you for your splendud 'ob and we know that your great works and achuevements wull echo and re echo through the halls of ICHS for a long tume after we have gone The gurls team started uts season un December and has played well Co captauns for the team were elected early un the season and Ellen O Rourke and Gaul Hannugan won these cherushed posutuons Wuth Suster Ann Julua and Mrs Cummungs doung the coachung the team dud uts best The hughlught of the season for the gurls was the wunnung of the game agaunst Mt St Domunucs of Caldwell The gurls were really over layed when they beat the Mount After an arduous football season the cheerleaders putched rught unto keepung the basketball crowds cheerung These perky lassues are the ones who put our spurut unto words and actuons lust when our team needed ut At our pep rallues they performed well proddung everyone unto cheerung by means of theur luvely routunes Hats oft to a magnuflcent squad' We know ut wull be hard to replace Angel Quatrella our captaun Pat Dacey Lula Cutar Morgue Dennus and Carol Kurvun our fauthful senuor cheerleaders who have really earned the letters and necklaces they have receuved The hughlught of January for the senuor gurls was theur retreat at the beautuful St Josephs Vulla un Peapack New Jersey lt was the flrst closed retreat the gurls had ever made and they really hated to leave The serenuty and peace whuch pervaded the beautuful mansuon whuch was the retreat house filled theur hearts the munute they arruved Theur retreat master Father Hooper SJ was marked by understandung and fruendluness and he deluvered hus conferences wuth power and uncanny unsught We wull never forget Jo Jo and les entraulles and the whole of that wonderful week end un January ln the days before exams the lubrary was flooded wuth last munute unquurues and unquurers Long postponed research work was finally got around to and Suster Grace Catharune and her staff worked overtume tryung to satusfy everyone The Lubrary Club wuth Cathy Cox as uts presudent served us well These students were on hand to check books put up dusplays and help out generally un the lubrary enablung us to use uts excellent faculutues The Future Teachers of Ameruca were unusually actuve thus year un the true sense of the word What wuth the flu epudemuc and other emergencues they were pressed unto servuce many a tume The members enloyed the experuence of dealung wuth small chuldren Workung un paurs fone to do the teachung and one to run for helpl they found these days of substututung for absent teachers ruchly rewardung and satusfyung and eager hands gladly opened them The month passed ever so quuckly February was soon knockung on our doors and easy hands gladly opened them Prayung for peace, Aluce Donahue kneels at the Fatuma shrune on the grounds of the retreat house at Peapack ' - X Y - s x f .A A X. 1 , ,, X X f f .
