nun.. -If 'M X 'i v was a month fllled with fun frrvolrty foot ball and flu Wall we ever forget those anxsous days when practrcally our whole foot ball team was strrcken with the flu? We thought drsmally that they would never get to play And then when they dad how awful we felt when they lost therr flrst game to St .loes Even the elements expressed their sorrow as the rarn came down nn buckets But fllled wrth a tremendous splrlt the team made up for thus loss and went on to wan the champsonshup Sports have always been very dear to the hearts of us senrors and those specsal few namely Jack Mount Alex Scaft Mrke Zambrr Frank Conrad Johnny the team wanted to thank personally Father Sheehan Mr Garvey and Butch Guar duccl for the trannung even though stern and hard at trmes that made the team a wrnnrng one The boys wrll always remember Mr Garveys between the halves talks Butch Guarduccx s qunet vorce and Father Sheehan s constant remmder that whether we wan or whether we lose thus rs the team we ll always choose Another team that helped tremendously to get that certaln feellng at the football games was the Crusaders lmmaculates own drum and bugle corps Started only last year by Father Carey the corps already had a professronal look and they really sounded wonderful on the fleld The biggest event un October was our annual retreat thrs year conducted by a Jesult priest Father McCall During the retreat we w re given the chance to talk to God about many things somethung that we often forget to do during the year Thus was a wonderful opportunrty for us sen ors to try to get strarghtened out about our vocations nn lnfe So many of us had not yet made up our mrnds and the retreat helped us immensely Father spoke on vocatnons both an relrgron and marrrage and explarned them very well Many tnmes durnng the year when the gorng got rough we were able to stop and talk to God much better than we had been able to speak wrth Hrm before the retreat October ended un a most srgnrtlcant way wrth the members of the Knrghts and Handmards forming a ltvrng rosary for world peace and with the words of the Sodalnty song for our flag for our falth for Chrlst the Kung srngnng ID our hearts They went on to wrn the champronshrpu Alex Scaff and Paul Marquis horst Coach Garvey onto therr shoulders as the rest of the team exult.
