Service, Leadership, Scholarship, Character. These are the four requirements for admission into the NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY. The Junior inductees held a trial at the induction and all twenty two applicants were found guilty of these four virtues. Fr. Foy told all present ofthe need of involvement in all aspects of life, be it in the family, school, community or nation. He also pointed out the need for change, but only through the system. As the seniors pinned the juniors, the senior girls received roses. The induction then came to the long awaited hour, the refreshments. 24 Student Life

The occa- sion was the annual MARDI GRAS, sponsored by French Club. This year, contestants for King 84 Queen were eliminated by competing in games like hot potato and popping balloons, in- stead of popular couples being voted as such by their classes. Booths ranged from delicious French pastries to racing your own Nlotoriffic car, along with various raffles. Oneof the highlights ofthe evening was a raffle in which teachers gave the students a break from some homework assignments and tests! Student Life 23

Into early March the pounding of pipes and hammers continues as the renovating of part of the convent basement is completed. Back in the library, bookcases are made ready to move to the newly built basement for the RECONSTRUCTION of the LIBRARY there. The large former library will be transformed into a multi-purpose room with a sliding door. Also tentatively planned for the part of the basement now used as a religion classroom is the addition of the sewing machines and art desks ta- ken from the school. This will make two other large classrooms available and allow new courses to be offered. The future looks full of pro- mise for changes that will benefit everyone. Student Life 25
