Lookmff back and fomard An ann1versary presents an approprlate occasron to pay spec1al trrbute to those who have contrlbuted IH lar e measure to the success of an enterpr1se As the hundredth annrversary of the death of our Mother Teresa approaches one 1S remrnded of the debt of ratrtude due thls noble Franclscan ploneer More than a centurv ago Mother Teresa came from Austrla to Oldenbur to JOIH Father Francls oseph Rudolf 1n establrshlnfr a teachlnff order of relwrous The Srsters of Salnt Francls The year of the first graduates from the convent school whlch Mother Teresa be an marks also the year of her death 1860 If Mother Teresa were to return now m 1960 she probably would not recognlze the Convent and Academy that replace her humble bCg1H1'l1I10'S In contrast to the or1g1nal small frame burldmg Wh1Ch Mother had called home she would v1ew a panorama of red brlck constructrons She would be greeted by over elght hundred Slsters of Samt Francls who have ded1cated the1r hvcs as Mother d1d For God and for Youth And 1n the place where her small group of Academy grrls used to study work and play Mother Teresa would see more than three hundred enthus1ast1c hrgh school students However many changes Mother Teresa mrvfht find we hope she would agree that they were PFODFCSSIVC ones We the one hundredth class would also ask Mother Teresa to Jom Wlth us 1n a prayer to Mary Immaculate for another century of Golden Academy years gam further educatron at ICA No doubt each one of them has thought at one trme or another of the past We too looked back through nrnety nlne graduatrng classes and found that throughout These Golden Years the Splflt of vlrtue honor educat1on has trrumphed 1n 1ts greatest test TIME' Faculty members who stroxe to make the best opportunrtles ava1lable to ICA s students and these students themselves have made the past century the Golden one lt IS Golden aptly descr1bes also the classes whether ID lanvuave mathematlcs art or rel1U1on From the Academy s earl1est years the threads of a full educatlon have llnked the mtellectual and cultural w1th the sprrltual The Student Councrl CSMC Sodallty u1ll and Scroll Immaculata Mar1 Star NCMEA Orchestra Glee Club all have added golden hlghlrffhts to regular courses The act1v1t1es of these orffanlvatrons plus good wholesome campus fun have kept students 1n a wh1rl' Throughout the year too patrons have stood by ready to sponsor worthwh1le projects deylsed by these organrzatrons and classes Wrth the comlng of Commencement Day we senlors w1ll no lon er share drrectly IH Academy hfe but we haxe tr1ed 1n the pages that follow to make Golden memorles of These Golden Years 9 C ' 1 u .
