The Sound of Music Resounding praise rang from the walls of the Little Theater as the final curtain closed on the 1970 production. Dramatic enthusiasm had de- veloped eight weeks before at the beginning of try- outs and survived a grueling schedule of rehears- als. Sister Ann Cecilia, I.H.M., and Sister Ann Bernadette, I.H.M., gave unselfishly of time and energy to ensure perfection in the program. From a clutter of sets, props, makeup, cos- tumes, and people backstage emerged perform- ances laced with amateur excitement and profes- sional polish, a Winning combination on any stage. Behind the scenes, the challenges of the SOUND OF MUSIC united a large group of people in a concerted effort toward success. Mary lvers helps create the character of Franz as she competently applies a make up base to Steven Phillips. Deeply concerned, Sister Margaretta, Sister Berthe, Mother Abbess, and Sister Sophia seek heavenly assistance to help them understand Maria. 64
