Junior Representatives Claudia Pascale, Patrick Heffernan, Vincent Anatale, Gerard Tarrant, and Carol Kolb utilize their time wisely by scanning college catalogues. Channels of love lead to the Catholic Youth Week theme, Respect, Re- spond and Relate, which Sophomore Representatives Mary Ellen Ken- nedy, Susan Schaaffner, William Burke, Katherine Dahms, Regina Mills, and Sharon Tozzi strive to promote. Underclassmen As she does every year, Immaculata opened her arms in September to a new crop of green freshmen, wide-eyed and eager for a taste of high school life. In- the beginning their road seems too long, their star too far away. Each finds so much to learn, so many new faces, new concepts to explore, that all are soon caught up in a daily striving for that dis- tant goal. The sophomores have already endured the painful breaking-in process, and have time to examine already-formed ideas and compare them to those of the rest of the world. Blatantly self-assured and confi- dent, these wise fools prefer not to look back, but to keep their eyes focused on a tangible ideal. The class of '72 delves deeply into the mysteries of geometry, bi- ology, and American literature, applying what they learn to daily living to help them to appreciate more fully what it means to be an Immaculatan. 'SWe shall overcome! becomes the battle-cry of the junior class. As they face a third year of secondary education and feel the power of becoming upperclassmen at last, each sees, too, the many obstacles between now and senior year. By this time, however, all have leamed the secret of being Spartans. They meet every chal- lenge presented to them with fierce deter- mination. Having pursued a long, tor- tuous course to attain such status, these upperclassmen can see before them the quest that seems almost within reach. One does not live to eat but eating helps to vitalize the spirits of Freshman Repre- sentatives Timothy Marchio, Deborah Batchelder, and Peter Falencki.
