Junior Gary Rutkowski, caught in one of his antics, awaited the Crescendo of the Star Spangled Banner. Concert Band With the echoes of Notre Dame Victory Marchv still resounding in the music room, Sister Ann Berna- dette, l.H.M., eagerly placed the scores for the Fifth Annual Spring Musicale before the students. From that moment on, precision marching was replaced by intri- cate scales and trills as the Immaculata Marching Band took on the role of Concert Band. Conducted by Mr. Connie Tarentino, the musicians presented such varied melodies as The American Troubadourf' a collection by Stephen Foster, and the Music Man by Meredith Willson. Music devotees careened with delight as the instrumentalists broke into a snappy march by E. Bagley called National Emb- lem followed by a melody from South of the Border, 'Samba for Flutesf' The involvement of every student during long hours of practice made strides toward perfection a reality. Synchronized talent and perseverance afforded each musician a rewarding feeling of self-achievement. With all the pomp and pageantry of professional musicians the brass and percussion sections amazed their audience with a spectacular performance. Members of the brass section in concert appended an interesting note to the splendid rendition of Oh Susannah. 5l
