Music Room 58 provided an untroubled escape for the musicians of Immaculata for forty-five precious min- utes each day. The anxieties of student life faded with each note intoned-every scale mastered. Instruction in theory also aided the instrumentalists in the pursuit of perfection. The annual trip to the Metropolitan Opera at Lin- coln Center familiarized the devotees of the arts with Puccinils g'Toscaf, Most of all, the budding Beetho- vans found a certain relaxation and peace of mind from each class. Horne Economies Linda Horner carefully studied the pending problem of matching a plaid before laying the pattern pieces. Q.. A l 'Mawson-u Senior home economists Maureen Finnegan, Antonia Nacchio, and Paula Muentnich glanced through magazines visualizing Spring wardrobes as Margaret Rabbitt dreamed of coordinating accessories. 43 Florence Rafferty attempted to recreate the era of the llapper as Maureen Finnegan updated the hem. Students of Home Economics busied themselves each day with the rewarding and practical task of making clothes. Many hours of patient work never proved useless as the girls developed a sewing ability that added to their wardrobe. Films on the latest fashions kept the models in stride with the modern world of dress. Seltlessly, the homemakers prepared a basket of food for a needy Puerto Rican family of Somerville at Thanksgiving time. Housekeeping films showed the duties of the future wife and competent mother.

Dorothy Koterba, with the help of Margaret Grau. struggled walking across the parallel bars-one of the basic steps of acrobatics. Seniors in Civil Defense class became aware of the threat radio- activity poses to our society. Get that balll' echoed teammates in the chaotic atmosphere of animal ball. Hi ' F-.. Physical Education - Health A workout in the gym never failed to refresh Immacula- tans by draining them of tensions. The competitive spirit en- couraged the athletes to run faster and jump higher while games and acrobatics inspired in them good sportsmanship. Through health classes, the student body learned to achieve an optimum level of well-being-physical and emotional.
