--...,.. After losing to Flint Dye in the opening game of the 1959 football season, the Imlay City Spartans went on to capture the South Central League championship for the fourth consecutive year. The main asset of this high rank- ed squad was the strong defense Among other games, the inspiring win over powerful Almont was due to the exciting and hard-hitting Imlay de- fense. The defense coupled with the fine running of Jim Ward sparked Imlay City to the championship and to the fine season.
