ln the sports reel Roger Wagner upset the tallies at the Indianapolis Speed Derby. His hotrod stalled just as he was about to cross the finish line. lToo absent minded to buy gas in his old age.J We continued to watch the newsreel. Look! There was Barbara Crawford up to her old tricks again! She had just signed a contract to wrestle at Madison Square Gardens taking Gorgeous George's place. Notice this news script! 'After having received many refusal slips, Steve Pamicky finally consented to be custodian of Grettenberger Field with Lee Weyer as his field chemist, fto keep the field free from Pickle Factory fumesj Now the fashion news--the latest fad in fashions is John Herrera's new bathing suit which is like 'The Bikini, only a little briefer and which is being modeled by Beverly Harrison. Suddenly the sound went off! The camera man, Charles Heil, forgot his cue, because he was so in- volved in his handbook, 'How to Play Basketball--lf at First You Don't Succeed. Some wise guy in the audience let out some annoying remark s--sounded like Art Zahnow to me. The cameras and sound rolling again,--Cartier's ad drew my attention. lt was now under the manage- ment of Bill Weaver. He no longer winds watches but just takes in money. On the billing for the main feature l noticed the Music was under the baton of the great conductor, Doug 'Orvis Miller, with Jack Maison as last-chair trumpet player. Uack had recently become fancinated with Symphonic Music.J Make-Up, by Eileen Stryker and Agnes Tanis. The experience in the Junior and Senior plays back in High School apparently tumed out to their advantage. The scenery was authentic, shot at the Dude Ranch of Bill Patow and Jerry Stroman. They had become tired of milking cows and had invested in the City Slicker Trade. Just as the movie was reaching its climax with the great love scene between Judy and Bruce Upleger fthe shy, little, rich boyj there was some terrible confusion in the third row. Beverly Sharrard was having a terrific argument with Larry Turner. Larry just couldn't stand that gum chewing and Bev was bound she was going to chew it, just like she did in govemment class. That argument was soon settled, for Johnny Wielsma, 'the theatre bouncer, threw them bath out! After the show Keith informed us that Marilyn and Dorothy Raetz had gone into the 'Frozen Custard business and had a Drive-ln on l7lst Street. He said that Russ Stroup was the new Ag teacher at l.C.H.S. Carl had recently heard that Ed Mott had won great notority in the field of government re- search at Washington D.C. and that Bob Schmidt had joined the Foreign Legion. The fast talk of the Advanced Algebra Class had been too much for him! Keith knew some more news: He remarked that Nellie Lou Simmons had cashed in on her drawing ability and was now a commerical artist for Esquire While we were waiting outside the theatre for a cab, we noticed a truck drive by, MR. Siedell's Butcher Shop. Our cab, driven by Lupe Villalpando, started for home. Lupe told us that Yvonne Spencer was now a lady auctioneer at the New York Branch of the Lucky Strike Tobacco Co. and that John Cramer was a traffic cop at Times Square. fHe changed his ways after graduating from high schoollj Well, Diary, this has been as extremely exciting evening, seeing and hearing about all the old gang and look at the pages and pages it has filled! Class of '54 Class flower: American Beauty Rose Class colors: Nile green and White Class motto: lt matters not how long vie live, but how. 'l9
