Jacki Sherman, Crystal Hafer, Chris Hatton, Joe Combe, and Karen Millering Photographers: Steven Anthony, Chris Hatton, and Joe Combe 1984-85 was a outstanding year. The first day of school was as exciting as usual with the little seventh graders running around not knowing what to do or where to go. We found some new addition to the school. The foyer tower over looking the football. Fall sports were very successful. The volleyball team finished fourth in league and the Football team went on to the playoffs be- fore losing in the first round to Riverside. Winter set in and what and interesting one it was. Snow. Snow, and more Snow caused us to miss five days of school. This didn t hamper too many spirits. The girls basketball team managed to have an outstanding year. First place in district, Second at regionals, and second at state. The boys basketball team finished fourth in district and almost upset Grant Union to make it to regionals. The wrestling team did what almost seemed impossible. They won the District tournment. Causing Mr. Anthony to shave his beard. The is finally winding down. Spring is here and everyone is looking forward to Summer. The Senior class was such and outstanding class that they received a record number of dollars in Scholarships. They also had a great Grade Point Average. This is just a tribute to what a great school we really have. 2 DEDICATION” We dedicate the 1984-85 Yearbook to you the class of 1985. The close of another school year has brought them one step closer to being leaders of the future. This class has with it students, who's talents are neverending. The class has within it a spirit that can t be duplicated. These students realize that with their Sophomore year behind them and their Junior and Senior years ahead, they can achieve anything they set out to do. 1. Heidi Campbell, You think so?” 2. Growing together, then drifting apart, always an ending and then a new start. At graduation we all grow nearer, and all of our friends seem so much dearer. And as we say our final goodbye, one last embrace and one more cry. A keep in touch and a promise I will, a remember when, but, better still, a piece in my heart, you'll always stay. This is what's said as we go our own way. By: Jacki Sherman ' 1. Tina Gross Are you thinking about Mike again? 2. The weeks dress up days were twin day, 50's day, nerd day, pajama day, and the traditional orange and black day. The bonfire was held Thursday night October 25th. It was cold, wet, and the fire wouldn't start, but once it did it warmed half the town of Imbler. The cheerleaders helped everyone show their spirit. Overall it was a big success. Friday was the big day. The football and volley- ball teams were prepared to face the Pine Eagle Spartans. The football team kept their playoff hopes alive by beating the Spartans 26-25. Though the volleyball team tried hard they didn't fair as well as the football team. They lost in two straight games to the tough Spartans, 15-4 and 15-8. The 1984 homecoming court consisted of seniors Teressa McDonald and Ronald Kellar, juniors Mi- chelle Kilgore and Greg Bingaman, sophomores Bentley Morgan and Jim Monroe, and freshman Dee Eddy and Mike Morgan, Michelle Kilgore and Greg Bingaman were chosen as queen and king. The homecoming dance like the bonfire was slow to get started, but once it did not even the chaper- ons were sitting down. The music and lights were done by Professional Audio Enterprises of the Tri Cities. Thank you, students and faculty of I.H.S. for making HOMECOMING 84 an unforgettable week. 1. The Panthers finished behind eventual State Champion Enterprise. It was the 3rd time in four years the Pan- thers have advanced to the State Foot- ball Play-offs. Late season injuries hurt the Panthers in the play-offs, but all in all it was a great accomplishment for the team which had to overcome a lot of adversities and make them a team which made us proud to be part of. 1. With a record of 5-2 in the Wapiti League. The school and the community are all proud of the time, effort and accomplishments during practices and actual playing time. From the looks of the Junior Varsity we should have a good Varsity team next year. We are all looking forward to watching them. They were at their best and came home with a second place trophy for all their hard work and effort. The town of Imbler showed up at Pendleton to help their teams to victory. Sparked by the climatic come-back win over the Corbett Cardinals set up the championship game for Satur- day evening. The championship game was the highlight of the successful season that the Panther Girls will cherish for many years to come. 36 The 1984-85 Wrestling team really showed their stuff this year. The team was com- posed of 13 individuals. They finished third in league with a record of four wins, two losses, and one tie. But to everyone's surprise, the team won the district cham- pionship title with three district champi- ons: Doug Noyes. Brent Grissom, and Mark Brown; one second place: Mike Phelps; three third places: Devin Corn- ford, Matt Wyland, and Mike Frizzell; and two fifth places: Greg Bingaman and Ward King.
