IHS students began their fall classes in a brand new high school building. School population in- creased as Imbler became the place to go to school, moving us up into the Wapati League. It was a year of FIRSTS as Imbler overcame Union for the first time in football history. Imbler 8th grade won its own Invitational BB Jamboree. Girl's basketball finally came into its own with JV and Jr Hi teams. The IHS Speech Team hosted its first tournament, going on to win triple-crown sweep- stales trophies. Our drama department continued to put out first rate performances. A newly formed Drill Team executed creative dance routines. IHS's great accomplishments are due to outstand- ing students and faculty who are sensitive to the needs of others, said Imbler's new superintendent, Rick Boudreau. 1 1. Homecoming band: Phoenix 2. Panther students started the 1977-78 school year in a brand new high school building. Recognizing the need for a new facility, the citizens of Imbler School District 11 passed a $920,000 bond issue in November of 1975. Construction began in February of 1976 after a ground breaking ceremony by Supt. Ken Kramer. The building was completed enough by January of 1977 to allow classes to be held there the remainder of the school year. IHS students pitched in to help make the move from the old red brick building to the new high school. Architets were Smith G Hasegawa of Ontario, Oregon. The general contractor was the Walsch Construction Company of Portland, Oregon. IHS students express their appreciation to the following people for all the time and effort expended by them in the planning and building of our new school: Supt. Ken Kramer; Principal Darrell Dodson; School Board Chairman Tom Holt; School Board Members Frank Beickel, G. Royes, Jr., Elwyn Bingaman, Ves Doty; Deputy Clerk, Winnie Roe.
