Imbler High School Golden Reveries 1962 Dedication Each year the Golden Reveries yearbook is dedicated to someone who has contributed much time and effort to the functions of Imbler High. This year it is the pleasure of the annual staff to dedicate the 1962 Golden Reveries yearbook to the parents of students attending Imbler High School for the long hours that they have spent and the fine cooperation that they have given for our school. The feelings of the annual staff can best be illustrated by these lines from Edgar Guest's collected verse. Never a sigh for the cares that they bore for us. Never a thought of the joys that flew by Their one regret that they couldn't do more for us Thoughtful and unselfish all of the time Oh the long years that they gave up all to us. Counting their greatest of services small Words cannot tell what our hearts would say of them Our parents - the fairest and best of all PERRY H. PRICE Superintendent In large scale, industry-wide surveys, it has been proved that knowledge alone is not the key to success. For every person who failed because of lack of knowledge, two failed because of personality problems. The acquisition of knowledge is of utmost importance, but there is much more to an education than knowledge. An individual must mature not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually. One must realize that there is work to be done in the world. One must be consumed with a desire to do his full share of this world's work. He must learn to fit into the entire harmony of life by learning to appreciate his surroundings, and especially his fellow man. These I feel are some of the marks of an educated man or woman. The purpose that our paper staff is striving towards is to have a good and interesting method of informing the students about important events, give a rundown on important things which have happened, and keep up the students' interest by adding personal touches of humor to each edition. Also there are reports on the sports scene, the gossip column. Senior Spotlight, in addition to some fine editorials. About once each month, the paper is published, and the staff, under the direction of Editor, Sharon Dougharity, and Advisor, Miss Odate, should be commended for their fine work. Imbler students enjoy the latest edition of the school newspaper. The HI-LIFE. The aim of the Student Council over the years has been to promote better student-faculty relations, organize various activities of the student body, make rules and laws governing student body functions, and keep the Constitution accurate and up-to-date. The Student Council this year has attempted to do the above and more. With President Glen Pfefferkorn in charge of the meetings, which occur about twice a month, each member has tried to uphold his part in trying to make a better Imbler High School. A. was composed mostly of freshmen and sophomores. Although inexperienced, they did well in most of the events in which they participated. Early in the year, they took part in the county fair and came out second in the district. At the state fair they took part in livestock and crop judging and farm mechanics tests. Later they went to Wallowa and Enterprise and took part in a district speaking contest and a soil judging contest. In Milton-Freewater they did a very fine job in livestock judging. sponsored by-. Junior-Senior Prom and Banquet April 27, 1962, this was the big night for Juniors and Seniors of Imbler High. An English Country Garden was the theme the Juniors picked for this year's Prom and Banquet. The cafeteria was lavishly decorated to carry out the garden theme, turkey was served as the main course, and Juniors and Seniors will long remember such banquet highlights as the Senior prophecy and will, and Mr. Price's speech on the necessity of education. The gymnasium also carried out the theme. The Juniors, though few in numbers, spent many long hours getting it decorated for the event. The main attraction was the little house at the end of the gym and the band was situated on its porch. The students of Imbler High have gone in many directions during the school year of '61 and '62. They have left many lasting impressions upon the people that they met, and though they are from a small school their accomplishments have been large. football ? 1 3 % « 5 « . ■ 1 FRONT ROW, left to right; David Hopkins, Manager; Darrell Gorham, Dennis Ott, Keith Richardson, Henry Johnson, Russell Bingaman, Paul Royes, Armond Arnoldus, Mike Crouser, Manager. Not shown; Darrell Gorham. Imbler hoopsters and yell leaders express joy over the Panthers' first win of the season. This year the Panthers did not have a successful season as far as a win-lose record is concerned. They managed to turn out only three wins in fifteen games. They did, however, show a lot of spirit in their games and pleased Imbler fans with several real close games, losing four of the games by only one or two points. Captain Gary Peterson and high scorer Larry McKinnis led the Panthers to their victories. sponsored by: BIRNIE'S JEWELERS rrB ” Squad Left to right: Dennis Ott, David Hopkins, Albert Johnson, David Tuck, Russell Bingaman. Don Starr, John Kopta, Coach. Lee Fries, Larry McKinnis, and Gary Peterson defend against Jordan Valley at the tournament in Huntington. This season the B squad had a very fine record of wins and losses. They won almost all of their games and most of them by lopsided margins. Every member of the team turned out great efforts in at least one of the games so no one of the team can be singled out over the rest. David Tuck was a consistent high scorer and Albert Johnson turned out a fine job at the pivot. David Hopkins was a good scorer from the corners and Russ Bingaman, Don Starr, and Dennis did a good job at the playmaking positions. We look forward to the 62-63 season and another good season for these boys.
