THE SMALL BLADES UF GI1ASS Sheilo Stotlcr wos elected president of the grode school student body ot the foil elections. Under her excellent leodcrship we hod o very successful year. The outstanding activities for the year were regular monthly assemblies with each room presenting a program, paid $15 on the furniture for the first grade playhouse which was built by John Hawks and Pat McDaniel; sold school supplies, paper cups and paper plates; published two school popers; collected $154 for the March of Dimes, (Sheila Statler's and Jimmie Fleet's pictures were in the La Grande Observer for bringing the most money in the extra drive. Ann McDonald was also a winner.) bought 25 annuols from the high school; helped to purchase o six foot by eight foot movie screen; presented o very successful Amateur Show in April. They have had their rcgulor parties during the year. The two! largest were the Christmas party and a surprise party put on by the girls for Valentine's Day They hodl two field trips, one studying geology and the other to study plants, trees ond other related subjects. The sprouts have grown into small leaflets, Namely—First Row: Frances Pratt, Steve Livermore, Judy Colhoun, Leonard Lively, Ronnie Hiner, Roddy Campbell. Second Row: Beverly Starr, Arden Collins, Ardell Pugh, LaVerne Brant, David Paroz. Third Row: Tim Johnson, Raymond Hug, Car! Johnson..Standing: Mrs. Dial, Karen Holloway, Louise Hohstadt, Reta Pfefferkorn, Sandra Hardman, Joyce Scott, Doles Craig, David Noyes, Jack Cain. Some of the special activities for the year were: birthday treats, Halloween Party, Christmas Party (gifts), December assembly and Christmas program, Valentine Party, crocheting, woodworking, United States notebooks, exploring Alaska and Canada, watching new plants grow, gals7 party, and end of the year party.
