THE SPAN-1932 q3ellncltz, ON TUESDAY evening, March 15. lQ32, the stage was once more set for the annual production of The Illman Playmakers. The place this year was the Rose Room of the Bellevue-Stratford Hotel and the play Belinda-An April Folly, by A. A. Milne. lt was presented in three acts, the action taking place in Belinda's country-house in Devonshire. U Mary Frances Butler was especially engaging as the Hirtatious Belinda, in contrast with her equally engaging but matter-of-fact daughter, Delia, portrayed by Grace Gar- linger. The entire cast gave a remarkably well-trained performance. The play was directed by Louise Crownover MacMillang the stage setting was by Helen Bertolette. A dance followed the play, the cast joining the audience for several honurs of gayety and music-a charming end to an evening which will long be remembered by all. THE ILLMAN SCHOOL 'Gbe Awful Fate 0 4 Stzzdiom Senior QTWAS the night before examinations-Mary sat, huddled up in a chair, before the fitful glow of a dying fire. A bridge lamp cast a pool of light around her, illuminat- ing the pages of a huge notebook which she was earnestly memorizing. The ominous quiet of the room was broken only by the regular turning of leaves and the faint hiss of the fire. lf two cortical areas are stimulated at the same time or in immediate succession - she repeated it for the twentieth time. Suddenly the fire seemed to Hume up more brightly-the room was filled with figures -familiar figures-they were talking to her. l We must hurry now, said a dark-haired chubby little person. We have so much work to do and l don't know where the time has gone. ' A I know, but it's just the day for a good game of golff' replied a smiling gentleman. What would Dewey say? asked a little silver-haired lady. My secretary will please note that, directed a gentleman with twinkling eyes. A smartly dressed figure stepped forward- That would be valuable for your cur- riculum bookf' X . Those sitting on the back row are also in the classf' said an harassed gentleman. as Yes-it would be wise, commented a cheerful voice. Let's have a good, snappy roll call, called out the tiniest person of all. 'fHere's a cute little disease, said a teasing voice. as I yike Yuyu, a lady with vivid hair spoke up. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog, remarked an exceedingly tall young man, lingering a spotless tie. Ninety days-darling! exclaimed a little blonde person with a half smile. Oh! gasped Mary, ls That the Human Thing To Dol She woke with a start-- Well,'l she murmured, after that, I guess I'll go to bed. Page Seventy-four
