Class Prophecy It is the year 1985. In the recent issue of TIME magazine, there appeared an article in the society section. The whole of the article was focused on the 1967 graduating class of Illiopolis. . Professor Susan Hemp, who is responsible for the development of practical solar travel, held a banquet for all her old classmates in honor of Carl Febus, the first man chosen for the interplanetary space mission. Carl had a side interest in the project, though. He wants to see if the moon is really made of green cheese. Brief accounts of each guest follows: John Wright is the president of the world's largest Suzuki manufacturing company He and his secretary, Pat Moore, arrived in the latest model—a Suzuki complete with air-conditioned side care. Bob Kapper, the millionare bachelor who made his fortune by striking oil while digging for buried treasure, was next to arrive. His luck, as well as Jacqueline Green, is still running wild. Jacqueline was unable to attend because of her work in Inner Mongolia. She is the only dentist in the area, and has devoted her life to this work. Landing in his private helicopter was Keith Barfield, the only seven star general in the world. Suzie Ford had just returned in time for the banquet. Suzie had been in the Olympic games in Tanganyika where she was the winner of the Swedish box competition. Entertaining the group with his clarinet solos, George Kopp easily proved why he has been called The Pete Fountain of the '80's. The renowned painter, Carl Fieldbinder, was describing his most famous master- piece to some of the group. He was decidedly pleased with his work—the redecor- ation of I.H.S. Roberta Fyke and Doris Mifflin, founders of the first Nursery School in Moosejaw, Alaska, were the arrivals that completely surprised everyone. Both girls were wearing stunning sealskin fashions by the internationally known designer, Rosanne Hartry. Rosanne later arrived creating another wave of excitement. She was in her newest design, strikingly called, Aurora Borealis. the arrival of Lee Peyton heralded the nightclub circuit, Lee is the owner and manager of the newest club, The Cougar. Accompanied by Myra Sanner, the club's featured dancer. Lee was seen promoting his club to all. Patsy Pickrell regretfully declined the invitation because of her world wide cruise. Patsy was so taken with Europe on her first trip, she ju§t can't seem to stay away from it. Betty Brown and Helena Budzen, world famous tree surgeons, dropped in after delivering a tree. The girls have recently written a book that deals with all types of tree ailments. It should be on sale soon, and will undoubtedly prove most interesting reading. Ed Stengel is the owner and manager of Ed's Coffee House in Greenwich Village. Booming business hindered Ed's plans to attend. Arriving her Ferrari, Kerry McKean, was anxious to show all her Safe Drivers Awards. Kerry is the Drivers Education instructor at I.H.S. Gayland Thomas was next to arrive. Gayland's big smile was proof of the success of his new invention, the Cooper-Scooper. This device electronically cleans chicken houses, and has already broken the high sales record of the year. Pam Craig could be seen relating to all the hot tips on the stocx market. Pam is now considered to be the Wizard of Wall Street. At request of the entire group, Steve Ketcham, proved why he was called the golden voice of the '80’s. Steve sang the hit song that he wrote himself. Blues for Baby Boo. Wayne Koonce, the self made movie director, was passing out complimentary tickets to his latest movie. Patty Robertson, successful electrician, was congratulated by all on the splendid job she did in wiring the White House with neon Entrance and Exit signs. The fantastic Larry Reynolds was greeted with a round of applause when he arrived. Larry is the only person to ever cross the English Channel by walking a tightrope while blindfolded. Dr. Mark Rautbort, eminent research scientist, was seen in deep thought. He apparently was contemplating the subject of his lifelong studies—the growth and development of garlic. As we round the last curve in our train of knowledge, we, the Seniors of 1967, have decided to look back over our experiences through the years. We entered the Illiopolis High School in September of the 1963-64 school year. Initiation was our first exciting event. The seniors seemed to have a great time doing this. Our class sponsored the Homecoming bonfire in October. The theme of our float was They're Not Kennedy's, so They're Beatable. One of the enjoyable events of the year was a Hootenanny which was held in April. Marsha Sanner and Susan Ford were Junior Varsity cheerleaders from our room. Our class officers were: Pres.-Bob Kapper, V. Pres.-Ed Stengel, Sec.-Pat Moore, and Treas.-Mlke Kaylor._______________ The class of '67 began their second year of high school with Steve Ketcham as our president. Other officers were V. Pres.-Carl Fieldbinder, Sec.-Susan Hemp, Treas.-Bob Kapper, and Student Council member-Keith Barfieldo New members of our class consisted of Jacqueline Green, Larry Reynolds, and Jim Faulkner. Our first accomplishment was to build a homecoming float, with the theme We'll Bury 'Em. We also sold tickets for the homecoming dance. Later in February, our king and queen representatives for the Valentine's Dance both became king and queen. They were Pat Moore and John Wright. We worked the rest of the year trying to make money to start into our Junior year0 Suzie Ford represented our class on the Varsity cheerleading squad. Our Junior Class started off by selling magazines from the Quality School Plan, having a car wash, and selling coke at the Junior High basketball games. We had our prom on April 23, at the Elks Club in Springfield. We decided on Moonlight and Roses as our theme. The Juniors were in charge of the Homecoming Parade this year. Our float theme was By Gemini We'll Win. And our float did win this year. In December we purchased our class rings from th Josten Company. Our class officers were: Pres.-Pat Moore, V. Pres.-Bob Kapper, c.-Patsy Pickrell, and Treas.-Steve Ketcham. We had a great year, but still looked orward to our Senior year. We began our climax year with 27 members . Our class officers were: Pres.-Bob Kapper, V. Pres.-Larry Reynolds, Sec.-Pat Moore, and Treas.-Pats? Pickrell. We worked our way to the Wagon Wheel in Rockton, Illinois through ow Pirate Canteen and selling sweatshirts. Pat Moore received the D.A.R. award, and John Wright received the S.A.R. award. The class Valedictorian was Susan Hemp, and Salutatorian was Steve Ketcham. Baccalaureate was May 21, and we received our diplomas on May 26. The Comet dummy was thrown into the fire, the pep band played, and Coach Smalling gave a pep talk. It was great to find that the cheerleaders kept the spirit going during the light rain. The parade was held on Friday afternoon. The floats were judged with the winning ones announced during half- time intermission at the football game. The Freshmen were awarded the American Legion Trophy for their We'll Bee On Top. Beat 'Em to the Ball was the Juniors' float which won the School Trophy. Congratulations to the Pirates and Coach Smalling for a great Homecoming victory] Most attention was on the dance Saturday evening with Young at Heart as the theme. The Limelighters provided enjoyable music for dancing. The highlight of the evening was the crowning of Queen, Patsy Pickrell, and King, Carl Fieldbinder by retiring King and Queen of 1965, Keith Johnston and Rita Kapper. Attendants were Jackie Green, Pam Craig, Ifyra Sanner, Pat Moore, John Wright, Bob Kapper, Ed Stengel, and Steve Ketcham. The King Tuptim Lun Tha S. Bowers D. Edwards The King A.
