'I ' 9 . JA. ds' 4 QE, I 94 wr Q N Q In Memoriam The morning of August 8, 1975 began for Annebelle Hartranft as so many lovely summer days had. She had her early morning coffee with her good friends and neighbors, the Corbins, she had an eight A.M. appointment with her beautician, and a breakfast engagement at nine with me. But all of this was interrupted as she crossed the street to keep her hair appointment - a massive intra-brain hemor- rhage, from which, within minutes, she never regained con- sciousness, and died the evening of the same day. I can only repeat - her life was beautiful, the meaning of true love of one for another has been made known to us, and the loss of this human being is immeasurable. Mary D. Shanks Director, School of Nursing As a person . . . Miss Hartranft was pleasant, concerned, warm-hearted, responsible and well organized. She had a good sense of humor which was centered with kindness, no bitterness, she had no desire to laugh at the embarrassment or pain of another . . . As a professional . . . She was attentive to detail and worked with pride, self respect, and a strong desire to give her best consistantly . . . As a teacher . She was concientious, had a personal interest in each student, taught them what to do, how to do it, and especially the attitude which they should have to- wards patients, other nurses, staff, and administrators. In recognition of her outstanding work as a teacher, the local chapter of Alpha Tau Delta was founded in her honor. Her Lynn Westcot Jane Gordon Connie Dennis Lena Riggs Carmin Jimison Eleanor Allen Mary Shanks influence as a teacher of nurses will continue, as those whom she has taught will pass along to countless others the skill, kindness, concern, human compassion which they learned from her words and example . . . Pre- season ranking of small college teams found Wesleyan at the 18th position from teams in the NAIA and Divisions Two and Three of the NCAA. The team set their goal of taking the national title this year after being stopped last year in the second round at Kansas City by champi- on Grand Canyon. Injuries were a problem early in the season as Mike Rinker and Jack Sikma suffered foot injuries. Although hampered by injuries along with a slow start towards a winning season the Titans success- fully captured the CCIW crown with a record of 15 wins and a single loss. They ended the season at Kansas City with a loss to Henderson State which brought their total for the year to 23 wins and 7 losses. 'Y L if 5 2, l r' fad a 3 x 2 J ff , L 'f . V755 ' X z 4 H-: ' rl!! He finished with a 17- 6 won-lost record, won the NAIA District 20 championship, and finished fourth in the CCIW meet. Kreuser and fellow co-captain, Bill Busch, were the only seniors among eight varsity letter winners. Jill 201, 168, 140 Ziegler, Carol 129, 159 Zielinski, Robert 27, 39 Zwanzig, Glenn 195 Hikono, Shinichi 189, 141 As is traditional within yearbooking circles the last page of a yearbook is the locale for the comments of the Editor . . . I am the Editor and Naturally you are the Reader . . . and you might have been one of the multi- tude who crucified last year's book well, maybe so . . . but I would hope I'm not next in line for such actions . . . I want you to know that this book was made for you and your memories and that I, as well as the rest of the staff have tried to accomodate your wishes . . . The job of putting a Wesleyana together is not as easy as the average Joe might think . . . there is typing, cor- recting, writing, correcting, gathering copy, correcting, trying to get groups together - photographed - and the faces to match the names, correcting, organizing, and of course correcting all of which lead to the total insanity of the staff and me . . . and you are the reader Then you have to consider the amount of time an average Wesleylander can give to work on the staff . . . That's easily said in one word . . . Ni1l . . . Where the most fun comes in is when the staff peoples try to roust the legendary Campus Support . .. But you know the campus motto - I'M Apathetic and Proud of it and even more fun is trying to get money out of the Student Senate . . . but that is a whole different story in itself . . . Now, You being the Reader, Might notice a bit of spitefullness in my attitude actually, it's just my nerves . . . I Mean, after 18,000 cigarettes and 5,000 cups of Dugout coffee, I should be expected to act a bit pecu- liar . . . But all in all this has been a good learning experience, in trying to create a good form of journalistic expression . . . and when this Wesleyana becomes a re- ality I hope you enjoy it . . . Thank You's are in order . . . To Jeanette . . . for your many hours spent in run- ning around campus taking pictures - printing in that unventilated darkroom - putting up with my demands - and for giving the readers good pictures . . . which are ...mf the basis of this book . . , Gale . . . Thanks for listening, sometimes that can be the most valuable thing in the entire world . . . To Mike Hackleman, Ace yearbook advisor, thanks for answering my questions and giving me insight to Yearbook Diplomacy . . . To Jim Mosiej, Deb Jones, Jill Ziegle, Jan Thomas, Jim Rob- erts, Jerry Payne, Bruce Danz, Bob Ahrenhold, Kathy Argo, Sudlow Photography, Media Committee, and all the people in the Publicity Office . . . Thanks for your hours of help, Ideas, and part in the actual process of putting this book together . . . Also Thanks to all the people I have forgotten to mention . . . but you know who you are . . . To my Section Editors Dale Engel, Sherry New, Mark Gibson, and Susan Griswold . . . I really don't know what to say I appreciate all that each of you did for the book . . . for tolerating my inconsistancies . . . giving your time - and some- times even a good night's sleep and Most important, for letting me get to Know you . . . I wish to thank my visor . . . that is his picture at the bottom of the page . . . for being my true companion and assistant in all that I do . . . Finally . . . I wish to thank you . . . the Reader . . . for taking the time to read this . . . I hope you might have found something valuable within this piece of Journalism . . . and if not . . . thatis O.K. because that's just the way it goes . . .
