Dedfkaf bn o the fufu e . . . Everyone knows that the first hundred years are the hardest . . . Looking backward through Wes- leyan's history we have found this to be only too true . . . We of the Junior Class would 'like to dedicate this first annual of our second hundred years to looking forward . . . Growth . . . Ever greater achievement . . . Larger and broader fields of learning . . . Newer and more decisive victories must be won to advance a grand tradition into a great one. All this must be accomplished without forgetting our debt to the past . . . Without losing a modicum of Wesleyan's spunky spirit . . . But ever gaining in a fine appreciation of all it takes to become the best. . . Looking backward we have found our materials . . . spirit--desire for learning-perseverance . . Looking forward . . . Let's use 'em . . . IN MEMORIAM TO . Edward E. Stevens, who for the past three years has been assistant professor of chemistry at Wes- leyan, died on October 29th after a long illness. His sincere interest in each of his students was an inspiration for learning . . . 5
