OUR WESLEYAN As we look back from '46, From this supple snow-white page Through the yellow leaves of time, The graduated dust of age, We smile to note peculiar trends, Though we and they sought kindred ends. 1896 Prep Building lnow it's called Old Northl, Observatory and the Main Were all that Wesleyan could boast Of halls to glorify her name, The Law School throve, a yearbook styled The Wesleyana was compiled. 1906 Adelphic and Munsellian Discussed the issues of the day. Center parts were worn by boys, For coeds bound by whalebone stay, Pompadours were all the rage, And shirtwaists, trademark ofthe age. l9l6 Wicker rockers, lampshades fringed- Sorority rooms at Wesleyan. Round-tip collars, button shoes Were proper for the college man. The seniors marched through Hedding's door, While Europe marched to drums of War.

1926 The shingled bob and waist cut low- - Femininity destroyed. Enthusiastic movie fans Saw Irene Castle, Harold Lloyd. Saturday classes then were triedg The seniors gripedg the freshmen cried. 1936 Ghillie shoes and mid-calf skirts Were the thing ten years ago. The Witcher libeled campus flirts. Winter: the century's heaviest snow. Bobbed waves: hair style of the times The campus echoed Hedding's chimes. 1946 The dove of peace came home again As veterans from the wars returned: Fraternities approached full strength Three years after Hedding burned. The plaited skirt and saddle shoe Were classroom wear the school year through And now we look with moistened eye Upon the paths where new feet fall. Four years of footprints lon the stairs Of each so well remembered halll- When rubbed out by Iife's caravan This book must be our Wesleyan.
