To him, the heavens declared the glory of God. His sudden death left a vacant place against the sky. This first post-war issue of the Wesleyana is dedicated to Annie Merner Pfeiffer whose parents came across the Atlantic in order that their family might have freedom of opportunity in this new world, and who, in partnership with her husband, devoted her influence and financial resources toward opening the doors of larger opportunity for succeeding generations of youth, especially in Christian colleges. She was a devoted and understanding friend of Illinois Wesleyan University.

In Memoriam CLIFF GUILD, M.S. 1905-1945 A devoted colleague who gave 'forty years of faithful service to Illinois Wesleyan University. As professor of mathematics, registrar, burscir, secre- tary of the Joint Board of Trustees and OHicial Visitors, manager ofthe book- store, he was untiring in his devotion to the tasks assigned him. A genial friend, loyal to his schools, his church, his community, he exemplified the highest ideals of Christian manhood. GERTRUDE ANN BOHRER, B.A. Instructor in Secretarial Science, 1941-1944 During her years of service she brought to her task a radiant person- ality, a deep personal interest in those who studied under her and a broad understanding of the contribution which a college should make to con- temporary life.
