Starting the season out with a victory, the freshman gridsters carried that same fight on into the remainder of the games, and when the old cleats were hung up they hadn't lost an encounter. That We might say is a notable record. The first freshman football team in the history of Illinois Wesleyan athletics is undefeated! But not only were they undefeated, to make the record complete, they weren't even scored upon! A 30-U win over Morgan Park Military Academy of Chicago began a scintillat- ing series of victories which ended only when the lllinois College freshmen had been beaten down l3-O, Millikin 32-U and Wright lunior College 33-O. Due to pressure of time, inter-class tournaments have been eliminated this year, and a system of qualifications for soror- ity teams has been inaugurated. At the end of each season a varsity team is chosen by the W.S.A. board, and usually the varsity team plays the winner of the tournament. The hockey season ended with a tie between the Kappa Deltas and the Kappa Kappa Gamma team. Both groups showed fine team-workg and had not snow prevented it, the final game between the two would undoubtedly have been a fight to the finish. The Alpha Gams were easy victors of the second sport of the year. Led by their tall forward, Alice Sutter, they piled score upon score. One of the best women's volleyball teams in a number of seasons was that of the Independents, and their slate remained clean through- out the tournament. A spirit of true sportsmanship is shown in these contests. They are carried on for sheer love of the games, and a desire to develop physical health and strength. The companionship and friendliness which is cre- ated between the girls of the different groups is invaluable and means much to the harmony of the campus. The Women's Sport Association directed by its president, Evelyn Lis- ton, has been unusually active this year. On two occasions they planned and carried out successfully a co-ed sports night. At a March meeting a new constitution was presented and adopted, and at this time the official name was changed from Womens Athletic Association to Women's Sport Association. f, K N S 1 , Vx is JN , lflmllftvt, . g W , ft' W.
