HOMECOMING WEEK HIGH LIGHTS Everyone looked forward to the 1983 Homecoming Week and its activities. This years theme was A Trip in Time”. Monday was Depression Day. Everyone dressed in their most depressed and depressing outfits. Toga Tuesday came next with an abundance of sheets. Guesses made indicated that perhaps a full third of the school must have had bare mattresses at home. Wednesday was Future Day. All the crazy’s came out of the wood- work on this day. The school looked like something from outer space, complete with garbage bag clothes and painted hair. The excitement mounted as the faculty beat the seniors in the annual senior faculty football game. The fire department was awakened early Wednesday morning when someone set on fire the wood gathered for the Thursday evening Pep Rally and Bonfire. This angered a large percent of the study body. When students began arriving at school they found For Sale signs all over the school grounds and their bonfire wood nothing but smouldering ashes. Many of the students were itching for revenge, but cooler heads prevailed. Thursday was SCTs-SO's Day. Mom and dad’s old threads came out of the attic as everyone dresses in their favorite old-time outfits. Next came the chilli supper sponsored by the Athletic Boosters and, with additional hard work by the seniors, the Pep Rally and Bonfire. Classes and clubs performed funny skits with the juniors winning and the seniors losing. The high light of the evening was the crowning of the 1983 Homecoming Queen. Lisa Foster’s look of anxiety changed to joy when the mighty Grey Ghost stopped and presented her the torch to be used to light the bonfire. Queen Lisa lit the fire to cap the memorable evening. Friday was Maroon and Grey Day and everyone was encouraged to dress in school colors. Classes let out early for the annual Homecoming Parade. The sophomores won first in the float competition with the juniors, freshmen and seniors placing second through fourth. Friday night we came with our intentions high, however we were defeated 48-18 by the Limestone Rockets. The big homecoming dance with its theme Rock of Ages” was held Saturday night. Lisa Foster was officially crowned Homecoming Queen by the 1982 Queen Diana Conner. Lisa Wil- liams, Christy White, Stephanie Johnson, Gina Reggio and Sheila Harrell served as senior members of the court. Kelly Witte, Junior; Julie Auge, Sophomore; and Erin Meyers, Freshmen served as class representatives. The dance concluded IVC’s A Trip in Time for Homecoming 1983.
