Autumn is the time for loneliness and love that died in the forgotten sun. The time for being alone in your world to decide answers for all the questions that summer brought. The time to write unfinished poems and sing unfinished songs before winter freezes them forever. The time to end, and begin again as we always do, anyway ... AUTUMN AUTUMN

HOMECOMING 78-HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD was a tremendous success despite some bad weather. On Monday a number of activities began, including a Rolls Royce raffle, spirit chain competition, class float building, and mum sales. Unfortunately, the Challenge of the Classes was cancelled due to rain. Tuesday was Hollywood Dress-Up Day. Sue Minter. dressed as Donald Duck, and Craig Parr, as The Incredible Hulk, took 1st place for the student contest. Charlie Chaplin (Mrs. Frohock) and “The Duke’’ (Mr. Howell) placed 1st for the faculty contest. Later that evening, the Senior vs. Faculty football game was held. Unfortunately, the Seniors lost the game to the Faculty. Immediately following the game was a movie, ' Oh God ', in the auditorium, which left smiles on the faces of the large crowd that attended. Queen candidate and underclass attendant elections were the main events scheduled for Wednes- day. The six queen candidates were: Colleen Curry, whose escort was Dave Lange (bonfire, game, dance): Traci Horak, whose escorts were Doug Hayward (bonfire), Lindsay Roden- baugh (game), and Jim Calvin (dance); Erika Humpidge, whose escorts were Tom Wineland (bonfire and game), Joe Willis (dance); Jana Kelenbach, whose escorts were Mike Marini (bonfire and dance), Chris Conner (game); Lori McWilliams, whose escorts were Tim Dever- eaux (bonfire and dance), Barry Sarver (game); Cay Pesko, whose escorts were Mark Ely (bonfire), Doug Hayward (game), Dan Maurer (dance). The underclass attendants were: Freshman Sharon Haare, whose escorts were Scott Horak (bonfire and game), Tony Gould (dance); Sophomore Jody Kelenbach, whose escorts were Andy Cary (bonfire), Craig Parr (game), Mike Callahan (dance). The Junior attendant was Dee Dee Mooney, whose escorts were Craig Parr (bonfire), Cam Parr (game), Eric Espinosa (dance). On Thursday, faculty and students were encouraged to wear their maroon and grey. The annual Bonfire was held at 7:30 on Taylor Field. The night’s activities included a performance by the Spiritts, skits by the frosh, soph, and jr. classes, balloon sales, and topping off the night was our Grey Ghost (Susan Gants) revealing the identity of the 1978 Homecoming Queen, Colleen Curry. A reception for parents followed immediately after in the commons. Friday was filled with activities from morning till night, as there was no school. Float judging began promptly at 12:30, with the Sophomore “Jaws” float winning the class category and the club float award going to Home Ec. for the 4th year in a row. The Hollywood Premiere, which was held in City Park was MC'd by Mr. Howell. Academy Awards for skits were given out in five categories: Best Actress-Sue Minter; Best Actors-Will Smith and Steve Hill (two wild and crazy guys); Best Set-Junior class; Best Costumes-Junior class; Best Overall Production-Junior class. The Spirit Chain competi- tion was won by the sophomore class and Mr. McGhee won the dinner and Rolls Royce raffled off earlier in the week. One of I.V.C.'s longest homecoming parades got underway at 2:30. The nearly thirty entrants wound their way through downtown Chillicothe and back to the High School. The Homecoming game was a disappointment as I.V.C. lost to Morton, but the half- time show picked up everyone’s spirits. Our guest of honor, JOSH TAYLOR, from soap opera “Days of Our Lives , escorted by Linda Jones, was introduced along with the Queen and her court. Homecoming week pulled to a close on Saturday with the traditional Homecoming dance held in commons from 8:00 till 11:00. Couples dances in a Hollywood fantasyland to the music of Cheez.” The coronation of the Queen was the highlight of the evening. Members of the Homecoming court stood by as the Student Senate President Lindsay Rodenbaugh crowned Colleen Curry the 1978 Homecoming Queen. Colleen then danced the 1st dance with Josh Taylor. Later the court joined her. Of course, none of the Homecoming activities would have been possible without the hard work of the Homecoming committee. Many thanks go to them. Members of the committee were: DeeDee Ratcliff, Jon Fleming, JoAnn Noe, Matt Adams, Dean McNaught. Shari Willis, Rick Trager, Cindy Hughes, Jody Kelenbach, Linda Jones, Dave Lange, Maleea Barnett and Susan Gants. Last but not least, thanks to Mr. Howell, whose patience and understanding really helped in the planning and the actual Homecoming. Jana Kelenbach, Committee Chairman, Homecoming '78 AUTUMN
