All members were also encouraged to participate in club contests as well as the National Scholastic Art contest by president Randy Hendryx. The club took a field trip to Kern's Graphic Arts shop in Peoria this year and we wish to thank Mr. Snow for helping with our transpor- tation problem in getting there. The Se- quence staff would like to extend a spe- cial thanks to Randy and the other Cam- era Club members for the many hours they spent working to get us pictures for SEQUENCE. FRONT, L. This tour took us to Pearce Grade School, Fairbury High School, Benton Township High School, IN, and Roberts High School. The band facilities at Fairbury were excellent and comments from our band, such as WOW were heard. The trip back to Illinois was uneventful except for the concert at Roberts and when the State Police stopped our busses --someone had forgotten his insulin at his host's house. Last, but most important was the con- cert in the gym of our own I VC. The fun but hard work we had done in pre- paring the concert was reward enough, however, we received a standing ova- tion for our efforts. Coach Childs, and strong runners as Bill Bandy, A1 Strong, Dave Engelke, and Bill Covey ran the Harriers to a 7-2 overall record for the season. One highlight of the season was Bill Bandy running in the state finals. The future looks good for Harriers, since many underclassmen are returning. sports 81 VARSITY FOOTBALL: L-R, TOP ROW: M. Who will forget our Home- coming game when the Grey Ghosts plowed through the rain and mud, loving every minute of it, and came out vic- torious over the Clinton Maroons. They ended their season with a 9-0 conference record and a 16-3 over all record. In the middle of the season they came out 3rd in the Princeton Tournament. Later on they came on very strong to place first in the Conference Varsity Tournament and First in the District Tournament. The District Tourney sent four seniors Fred Lauber, Steve Snyder, Prank Klatt, John Standridge and one junior, Mike Lauber to Sectional. High hopes were held for the victorious F red Lauber until a knee injury kept him from contention in the State finals at Champaign. Any good thing, therefore, that I can do, or any kindness that I can show a fellow being, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again. Stephen Grellet seniors 171 I May Never Pass This Way Again Dreams so they say Are for the fools and they let them drift away Peace like the silent dove Should be flyn’ but it’s only just begun Like Columbus in the olden days We must gather all our courage Sail our ships out on the open sea Cast away our fears and all the years will come and go And take us up always up. “We may never pass this way again.” and indeed we will not, this year has held many memories that we shall never forget. And in passing through each day we hope this yearbook has captured a fraction of those very pre- cious moments to be remembered. The class of 74 will undoubtedly leave IVC in apprehension of the future. But we will never forget the friends and good times that we will also be leav- ing. “Thanks” to all our teachers and friends who have contributed to our lives in some way. As May 31 approaches, so ends the hard work and effort put in by Mr. Beesley and the yearbook staff. Accurate names, clear pictures, important happenings, following-a-theme, style, and character are some of the goals we have tried to reach and hopefully, have done so in the 1974 Sequence. Al- though we (Angi and Joan) will never pass this way again, this isn’t true for Pat Noe, the Junior Tri-Editor. We want to thank her for her efforts in mak- ing Sequence ’74 what it is and also wish her lots of luck and success for Sequence ’75. Although we leave many good times behind us, in some ways we are glad that we my never pass this way again. Sincerely, Angela Joan 176 closing ©1974 Dawnbreaker Music Company Used by permission only.
