Colombia is a country that faces the big challenges of modern civilization with problems in education. Fortunately, our rate in il- literacy is dropping steadily. Another weak point is the economy, which 20 year ago depended solely upon the coffee which was exported. Now it seems that somebody has called me and said, That was it, Al. Oh, yes, I'm leaving physically, but in my heart will remain a deep feelin of ratitude 8 g and thanks to you, my friends of l.V.C. and I'm sure that your warm friendship will be the best memory of this Won- derful year . PAT GREIGARN- -BANKOK, THAILAND AL SANCHEZ- -BARRANQCILLA, COLOMBIA Thailand's government is a constitu- tional monarchy, headed by a king and queen who are very much respected. The Prime Minister represents the people. Most of the people are rice farmers and Buddhist. We export more rice than any other country in the world today. Besides rice, Thailand is fa- mous for silk, and teak wood. The most popular sport is soccer, which we call Football . Other sports are bas- ketball, rugby, Thai boxing, kite fly- ing, and fish fighting. Only first to seventh grade is required in school, but there are twelve grades available. Two of these are like high school, but are called pre-university. There are four universities in Thailand. The final bell has rung on an- other year--a year of great changes in the school--a new school, a new name . However, the Sequence has remained through the changes and is, I hope, as meaningful as all the past issues have been. There are many people to thank, many who worked hard to produce this Se- quence. To Curt Grusy, a special thanks for being the greatest assistant editor ever. Also, to Susie Gill, JoAnn March and Phyllis Sager for giving up many of their study halls and after school hours to help. Others who merit recogni- X tion for their work are Bruce Conroy, Linda Brown, Kathy Case, Gary Jacquet, LH -'f1NEaverMills, and Al Sanchez. There are many more to thank, but the greatest asset to the 1969 Sequence, and all the earlier issues, was Mrs . Carroll. Without her advice and guidance there would not be a 1969 Sequence. I don't know what they will do without her next year . I hope that you will be as proud of this Sequence as I am and enjoy looking through it in the future as much as I enjoyed editing it.
