The festivities started with a pep assembly at which Dee Dee Johnson was declared queen, and Curt King was presented as her king. The Homecoming parade featured Chilli High's band and the floats of the four classes. The seniors' effort proved satisfactory because their float won first prize. The football team smashed Metamora 42 to 13. The Homecoming festivities were climaxed by the crown- ing of her Majesty at the dance. As the last strains of Fred Hess were heard, Home- coming of 1962 took its place among the other treasured memories . Queen Dee Dee Johnson and King, Curt King. GO TEAM GO!!! ! 98 READY, AIM, FIRE YES???? LET'S RUMBLE! GOING ONCE, GOING TWICE, OUR GANG THE SAME TO YOU FELLA! THE OLD FOX 99 THE FANS THE BOYS NOT REALLY!!! ! May 31, 1963 The room is empty. The doors are locked. The silence is broken by the laughter and merriment of the Sequence staff as we wend our way down the dark halls for the last time. The pages of the yearbook are tucked safely away. My assistant editors, Jill and Lawrence, are breathing sighs of relief. Kathy and Carol are still discussing the arrangement of the activities section. Our sportsmen, Larry, Bob, and Johnny, are patting themselves on the back for a job well done. Barb is explaining how the senior pages will be arranged, while Curt listens on. Dinah and Pam are busy comparing the underclassmen, and June and Jessie analyze the clubs and organizations. Our copy editors, Mary Lou and Mary Jo, are trying to rub some of the typing ink off their fingers. Robert, Steve, and Bob are feeling confident that the pictures they took were the very best, and Gene is informing them that art work is as important and necessary as photographs. Although the job of business manager was finished long ago, Wayne just had to come back for the last meeting. Mrs. Carroll, our advisor, has the same gentle warm smile she had when our work first began a year ago. The yearbook is completed. We, the staff, sincerely hope the 1963 Sequence will be like a treasure chest of memories for you, from which you can draw and relive the experiences of the past year. My heart is filled with pride for this book which you hold, for the school where I gained knowledge, for the friends I made, and for each of my fellow classmates. May you be courageous but never rash, cautious but never cow- ardly. Know no fear for you know the power of faith. Search for peace and find it within yourself. And, above all, learn to look to R3od for all you need. Sincerely yours, Joann Viola 100
