Its purpose as stated by the school administration is to provide an executive group from the faculty to aid in the initiation and furtherance of administrative policies, thus making a wide range of ideas and reactions available in the best interests of the University. It has been felt that the group, consisting of directors of divisions, heads of departments, the various deans, the registrar, and other administrative officers, could better take initial steps, from the standpoint of economy of time, on some problems that could later be referred to the faculty as a whole. Among some of the matters discussed and presented to the faculty which have had a bearing upon the work of the University during the present school year are the improvement of student elections, preparation of school calendar, a new grading system, regulations and plans for student attendance and absence, student forum, examination schedules, a selective admission program, and other matters looking toward the improvement of working conditions in the University. 24 is to UNIVERSIT S E N A T I
