In a. large rueasure these eourses also deal with the application of the principles of physies and eheniistry to daily life. They are of college grade and are intended to equip graduate students well for high sehool worli. The advaneed laboratory is devoted entirely to these advanced Courses. lluring the past- two or three years during' the tirst suuuuer teriu the physieal and ehenrieal laboratories have been espeeiallsy overerowded. The demand for courses in physics whieh nreeti the reipiireuients for tirst grade eertilieate has been uiueh too great to be niet by the' old laboratories. The fam-ilities of the new laboratories will uialie it easy to rueet this demand. The new laboratories are ideally located, they are light and airy and are equipped with the best ot furnishings. Praetieally every eonyenienee which would aid in nralcing the worlq niore effective or which would facili- tate stuilent or teacher in earrying on the grade of work which it is thought desirable to undertake in the nornial sehool has been provided. Extensive apparatus eases have been provided in eaeh laboratory so that little time and labor need be expended in carrying apparatus froin rooin to rooin. For siniilar reasons eaeh laboratory is supplied with anrple side-tables and ledges for the tenipo-rary storing of apparatus and supplies. Much new apparatus has been purehased during the past few years and more will be provided as soon as oeeasion to use it arises. An additional instructor is provided the departnrent for the eonring year.
