Student Senate The Student Senate is the main governing body representing the students. Senators are elected by the student body in the fall of the year and again at the beginning of the sec- ond semester. Senate officers for first semes- ter were Peyton Harris, president, Pat Kneer, vice president, Candy Piskorski, secretary, Rick Baxter, treasurer, and Pat Tate, corresponding secretary. A turnover at semester left only 10 on Senate. New members elected in Febru- ary were Mike Ambrose, Bill Bahnfleth, Becky Blakesley, David Blayney, Herb Eaton, Nancy Edgar, Tim Elder, Beth Koors, Linda Mayo, Brad Powers, David Prince and Shirley Welton. Second semester officers were Bob Schmidt, president, Kneer, vice president, Nancy Edgar, recording secretary, Steve Roof, treasurer, and Tate, corresponding secretary. During the year the Senate sponsored a mock election, the Christmas dance and the spring formal. Sen- ate was besieged by many problems during the year. Among these were heavy load of committee work, the problem of continuity of Senate members and gaining the confidence of the general student body. GREEK COUNCIL. Senate, Councils Strive to Govern Advisory Councils Greek Council and the Independent Ad- visory Council were formed during the spring semester of last year in order to strengthen the communication between t h e campus groups. Two delegates and one alternate from each recognized organization were chosen to be representatives on the two coun- cils. Representatives from Greek Council are from the tive service fraternities and sororities on campus. The governing body representing the independent organizations on campus comprise the IAC. During the year the Greek Council sponsored a benefit dance for a gen- eral scholarship 'Fund and also held their an- nual Greek Week. The independents non- governing activities were limited to sponsor- ing dances. Dave Jennings and Tim Elder each served the Greek Council as president for one semester, and Peyton Harris presided over the IAC 'For the,year. INDEPENDENT ADVISORY COUNClL. Row 3: Tom Christiansen, John Swearingen, Dave Jennings, Tom Cusick, Dave Bybee, George Alexander. Alpha Delta Chi Traveling to Belleville for the annual Christ- mas dinner-dance given by the Alpha Chapter of Alpha Delta Chi and participating in the intramural program are among the activities the men of Alpha Delta Chi took part in. First semester officers Tim Elder, president, Bob But- ler, vice president, Denny Baker, secretary, and Randy Hunt, treasurer worked to pro- mote interest in service proiects. Work on the heart drive, aiding in the care of a quad- raplegic and donating Christmas presents to crippled children at Zeller Zone Center con- stituted many hours of time and effort do- nated by Alpha Delta Chi. The fraternity also had representatives on Student Senate, Greek Council, Social Commission and HARBINGER staff. Officers for second semester were Randy Hunt, president, John Bennett, vice president, Al Cooksey, secretary, and Terry Myers, treasurer. LAMBDA KAPPA CHI.
