Their projects consisted of sending funds for Multiple Sclerosis, tornado relief (CRWRC), the African famine, the Pullman Christian Reformed Church, and the redecoration of Illiana’s chapel. Also, they sent food baskets to Cary, Mississippi and helped Mrs. Lattin, who is confined tjo a wheel chair with Multiple Sclerosis, with her housework. They raised the funds through the collecting of approximately 100,000 cancelled stamps and the selling of potato chips throughout the year. If you open your mouth again, I ' m going tc split your skull. ” A nineteen-year-old boy has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. “He doesn’t stand a chance ’ mutters the guard, as he shuffles twelve people into the bleak jury room. It looks like an open-and-shut case — till one of the jurors begins opening the others’ eyes to the facts. “This is a remarkable thing about democracy,” says the foreign-born juror, “that we are notified by mail to come down to this place — and decide on the guilt or innocence of a man; of a man we have not known before. We have nothing to gain or lose by our verdict. We should not make it a personal thing ” But personal it does become, with each juror revealing his own character as the various testimonies are re-examined, the murder is re¬ enacted and a new murder threat is bom before their own eyes! Crux of the decision is that phrase, “beyond a reasonable doubt.” But it soon becomes apparent that most of the jurors have not bothered to doubt. Tempers get short, arguments grow heated and the jurors become twelve angry people. •■You ' re not going to be satisfied til you see it.
