He has competently guided us in our curriculum and molded our character. As a classroom teacher, he has taught the subject matter in the light of God's word. In this he has fulfilled the basic tenet of our Christian education. Above all, he has been our friend, a friend who has helped us with personal dif- ficulties and made us the better for our experience. For all this we thank him. Several of these join in planning and producing our chapel services and assemblies. Our band and choir add a touch of music to the school day. Besides giving two concerts, it has had several singing engagements, which included the Mus- ic Festival in Grand Rapids. Although lack of facilities prevent us from having a scheduled sports program, we do have teams that compete with other schools. Although the teachers play a prominent part in the activities of the day, the students realize that the school board and the principal put in a great deal of effort in planning the curriculum and su- pervising the school. o vi page fo rfy-seven l i l l Dear Graduates: Q When you came to Illiana as freshmen four years ago, you entered upon the second phase of your formal education. As you looked ahead, four years seemed a long time and graduation far away, Now, almost suddenly, it is upon you, your four years of high school are almost over. Soon the excitement of graduation, best wishes, and congratulations too, will be over and you will be facing the problems and responsibilities of adult living. During the four years you have been at Illiana we your teachers have ,tried to direct the growing up process, your thinking, your habits, your ideals, into patterns of constructive Christian living. It was done imperfectly, of course, for we who our- selves are imperfect in understanding, imperfect in knowledge, imperfect in example can never even approximate perfection in the training of others. We can only pray that that which was in keeping with the divine will may be effective in your lives and that divine grace may cover our sins and mistakes and remove their ill effects. We pray too that by the grace of God you may appropriate unto yourselves and make effective in your lives the guiding principles of Christian thinking that have permeated your training at Illiana. Our school is comprised of youth of several denominations. These come from a radius of about ten miles. They range in temperament from the sedate to the boisterous, but all put together they make the Illiana student body.
