While yesterday's worries Start to run through my head. As I mope to the window And gaze outside, I recall all the things That I've let pass me by. I wish just for once I could live in my dreams, The dream of living life To it's fullest extreme. Now I know what you're thinking That this all sounds absurd. So put yourself in my shoes. And hear what I've heard. People laugh at me, people tease me And they hurt me so bad I just wonder how they would feel Living the life which I have. Thanks to you my special friend, For helping me find love. And set my heart soaring on above. A jar of joy Poured over unhappy lives Bringing warmth and love That I have ever known. When I was down you showed me love. And set my heart a flying. When I was low you gave me love, And made me stop my crying. Love was shown by you to me Not only for me, dear Love was given from my heart with a certain tear. I love you my special friend cause you're always you. You're not only that But, you're also this Cause there are so few of you. Love is smiles. Love is cheers. Love is gaining through losts of tears. By: Sheri Bowman Why Why some people drink and drive I'll never understand Want to know what I think? Drinking, driving and death All go hand and hand! A drunken driver on the street Has the lives of many at his feet Why should these lives be threatened By such a careless few? It's a question I can't answer So I’ll ask it of you. Think of all the people Who'd still be alive today If the person who'd had too much Had put his keys away The people would be here today. The Bobcats were picked to finish fifth in a preseason coaches poll. The team was supposed to be rebuilding after losing eleven players to graduation following a state playoff berth the year before. This year's team believed in themselves and we set a team goal of returning to the state playoffs. Through hard work and dedication to that goal, we were the surprise team in the league and we did fulfill our goal to return to the state playoffs! This was the first year since 1981 that we had a full girl's team. The girls did an excellent job and should become a very good team in the years to come. Corie Burns placed 3rd in our district and 21st in the state as a freshman. The boy's team had an excellent year. We placed 2nd at Pagosa Springs Meet to bring home our first trophy in two years. The boys finished 4th as a team for the state meet where we finished 18th. Kenneth Richards placed 16th. We have the potential to be an excellent team. We may even have the potential to be state champions, but it will take hard work and dedication. I am very proud of this year's Cross Country teams. I am looking forward to coaching most of them again next year. They were Basin A League Champions, District 6 Champions and the first boys team to make the state playoffs in 18 years. They defeated their close rivals Bayfield and Pagosa Springs. The third defeat earned them District Champions. Each team member contributed to the team. All the players, managers, coaches and cheerleaders know what it takes to be a winner. All of the athletes involved in this sport must know that continued success depends on continued work and improvement. A very successful season has been completed and we look forward to many more. For the first time two brothers, Raymond deKay and Chris deKay, were State Champions at 126 pounds and 119 pounds. It was the Third time in the last three years for the team to be District Champions. They say goodbye to long-time members Raymond deKay, Robert Candelaria, Robert Ward, Joby Rivera, Bill Weaver, Pat Rea, and Wayne Anderson. We will miss them, but with two State Placers (Chris deKay and Gus Velasquez, fifth at 185 pounds) and four other District Placers returning, there is still a good nucleus to go on again. The team posted a winning duel record at 8-2 and won the following Tournaments: Bloomfield Tournament, Aztec Tournament, Ignacio Tournament, League, Districts.
