Ethel Barker was born In Collbran, Colorado. She graduated from Collbran Union H. S. and attended college briefly 1926-1944. She taught from 1928-1934 in rural schools in Colorado. Mrs. Smith was married to Kenneth Smith in Steamboat Springs, Colorado in 1937--tl»en moved to Bayfield in 1944. She taught on an emergency certificate until 90 quarter hours were accumulated. Twelve hours were required every year. She taught at Bayfield Junior High 11 years. Mrs. Smith got her BA- at Adams State in 1957, and her MA- at Western State in 1963, She did her graduate work at the following: University of Nebraska- Guidance Counseling Institute University of Utah-Reading Institute Sam Houston TC- Mexican Field School Western Montana College-Indian Institute Colorado State University- Vocational Guidance Other: Too numerous to mention 3
