Learning that he had become King of Egypt I hunted him up. While talking with him I caught sight of another senior, Isabelle Begay, who was Rudolph’s lovely wife hard at work sewing up the Kings best suit, telling king Lopez he needed servants. Much to my surprise up from no where came three hard working servants to get instructions, they turned out to be Richard Olson, Christy Chavez, and Mike Jacques. I continued on my way forever onward to Japan where I discovered two more former classmates were being united as man and wife in a double ring ceremony. None other than Sandra Miller and Donald Olbert. Donald owns the richest land in Japan, crowded with silk worms. Watching the wedding ceremony from a distance I sighted the preacher performing the ceremony as another classmate, Ronald Rea, the present army commander in Japan. Leaving Japan I journeyed to Africa, wanting to see the darkest part of Africa I joined a safari; and came across a part of the White Rat Tribe. Asking for the chief, who should appear but Fred Ruybal. An elephant sized Fred was he, who had been stretched three times larger than his normal size, by a freak doctor, Mrs. Dorothy Kirkengziedler, the former Dorothy Rags Riggin a senior of '57, for killing rats and selling their meat for stewing meat. From here I took a canoe up the Adriatic Sea to Italy. Here finding Francisco Enriquez sitting on the street with his bottle. I stopped and had a chat while he, his wife Mrs. Darlene Enriquez, former Darlene Moss, and their son Rudy John Duran Enriquez were playing the new Italian game Bridge . After watching them for an hour I decided I must leave while I still had a chance. Saying good-bye to my dear old friends I skied over the Alps to Paris. France. Hearing of the great perfume factory, I went to purchase some sweet smelling perfume. The owner of this great factory was Harold D. Tubbs, when I asked the price of the perfume I was escorted to the rear of the building where I was greeted by the lovely smiling face of Mrs. Harold Tubbs, Sharon Mayfield during her school days, who was the chief boss. Making a purchase of three ounces of Midnight Dream Perfume for $20 an ounce. I was once more on my way. Hitch-hiking through France to Spain I decided to attend the great bull-fight. Wow, what a handsome fighter! I adjusted by binoculars to get a closer view. Finally I realized it was one of the I.H.S. seniors, Robert Hott. Robert was a prize bull-fighter. He presented me with a bulls tail for a souvenir. Wishing him good luck I left traveling on to Scotland where I heard from the villagers of a great celebration, the Highland Fling. The chief performer was Freddie Taylor in his blue and orange plaid kilts. Following the performance I was honored to help Freddie celebratae at Ernest’s palace. Ernest Phelps and his charming waitress, Rita Vigil were busy filling mugs as fast as we could drink them. Going on to Greenland, a very cold place, I was greeted by Miss RaNea Roundy by a rub of the nose at the post office. I was taken to her home. To my amazement 1 beheldCarol Cassador, Jack Frost, Shirley Kohler and Johnny Begay dancing an old favorite of mine, the Bunny Hop . Suffering from the intense cold I just had to go to a warmer place. I set sail for Newfoundland. I never dreamed any of the '57 seniors of I.H.S. would own a real fur shop, but whom did 1 see, Mrs. Claudean Zacarocker, Claudean Pinnecoose as I knew her, running the Sharon Kenoa fur shop. Buying fur coats was Billy Quintana, most likely for his dear charming wives Mrs. Florence Brewster Quintana, Mrs. Mercy Trujillo Quintana and Mrs. Grace Newton Quintana. Page 27 As time was running short I hurried on to Bermuda. There I saw the beautiful bathing beauties, Eva Jim Brown, Joy Jack, and Joyce Larsen. Their body guard was a muscle man, Dale Bragg. I never dreamed I would ever see these gals in bathing suits. Just a little bored at this sight 1 left for Mexico, where 1 ran into Jon Barnett the owner of the Tarzan Ape Show. Jon had become so much like the Apes by this time that he even talked like one. My money was nearly gone so I boarded a rocket from Mexico City to the United States. It was a very rough ride, but no wonder as Caleen Gab Shelhamer managed to be the pilot. Staggering out of the rocket from the rough ride, on the rocket landing in New York, I was robbed of almost all my money except for the $100 I had hidden in my shoe by Carol Sandoval. After this sad incidence I journeyed to the Empire State Building at which Doctor JoAnn Preston was the big cheese. Her many slaves, Ann Pennell, Bennie Rivera, Miama Marquez, and Bessie King served me tea. Flying from New York to Durango I rested and visited with the sweet hostess Miss Arlene Weaver while flying in the plane owned by Nellie Coolidge. After being all around the world to see my classmates, I went back to dear Old Ignacio, where 1 live with my pets in a six story house, writing an autobiography of my wonderful trip. Now the social unit has become the whole world in which each person’s welfare affects that for every other. In a competitive social unit of this sort, you will find that the higher you progress, the more definitely, there still remains a large number of people who fail to realize or understand this concept, and thus feel they live apart from the main social unit. Often times the unfair and unjust criticism of these people may cause you to feel that further progress in any upward direction would be impossible. However, only those who have been above mediocrity, only those who have attained more than a common place station in life are considered worthy targets for criticism. The only criticism that really counts is that which comes from within. The commendation of one's conscience can more than counteract the condemnation of those who do not understand. Never let praise greatly elate nor criticism greatly depress you. For when things go wrong, it is only human to seek to blame others. Only the shallow are moved by applause from without, and only be right with yourself and you can surmount the obstacles in your path if you are courageous, determined and hard-working. Above all, beware of the following seven Mischievous Misses who are responsible for most of the criticism you will receive: Miss Construction, Miss Information, Miss Quotation, Miss Representation, Miss Interpretation, Miss Conception, and Miss Understanding. Many of us have and look to the day when it shall be possible. It is in the offing, but how soon we cannot say. On the other hand many of us retrogress in our thinking and often wish we were living in the days that our country was being settled. Pioneers! Both groups are such and appeal to this instinct that many have, yet to me the most challenging field of pioneering is in HUMAN RELATIONS. I am grateful to the schools for the privilege of serving here during the time of the consolidation and integration of the Indians. It is something that should have been done years ago. We who are the active participants have profited much—the teachers and the children. Most would agree that the Indians although benefiting by this move have been benfited less than the others. They have much to offer and we have learned. They too have learned, but their number is smaller and consequently the ratio tips the scale in favor of the other side. We are indebted to those who have made this a reality. Page 63 FIRST ROW: Mr. Owens, Mr. Padilla, Mrs. Black, Mr. Doerges, Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. Wells, Mrs. Martin.
