BOBCATS’ TALK Many years have passed since this school was built, and many classes have joyfully or sorrowfully left the old school they had learned to love; many a memory still remains in their hearts. If this dear old school could talk, it would tell a strange tale. A tale of joy and sorrow, a tale of students who never grow up, of others who left for higher education and some noted profession. But time marches on and the old school has changed ---it has grown in many different ways. Oxford, Tiffany, Arboles, and Allison have all decided to form with Ignacio one large district--District No. 11. This growth in size also causes a growth in many different ways. School busses are now a common sight parading across the front yard, and a new school is on order for 1950, but even names change. For instance, the ball players who used to be Warriors are now Bobcats. We had to have a new name for our team after all the other changes during the past year. This name, Bobcats' Tale, is maybe a strange name to you, but to us it is the best name a book could have, especially an annual. Let's take the words in order. Bobcats of course stand for our teams and students. Since our teams are noted for their sportsmanship, this annual will also aspire to live up to the school’s reputation and be an annual worthy of all the student Bobcats. Of course a tale is just a story, true or otherwise. So you see the Bobcats' Tale is merely a story of the year ’48-'49 in ail its colors; joyful and yet sorrowful for the Seniors who hate to leave the school they have learned to love for so many years. But the Bobcats’ Tale in later years will freshen those golden memories and bring back those old joys to all the Bobcats of 1948-49 in District 11. Many more years will go by and many more memories will be added; the school will collect more tales which it can never tell. This Bobcats' Tale is a starter for the years to come. It is a symbol of the coming school years with more educational advantages. This Bobcats’ Tale is a light in the dark; it is showing us a piece of the future of a bigger and better Ignacio »United School.
