Under the capable direction of Miss McDermott, the Glee Club girls have taken an active part in attaining the goal of equality with the glee club girls of the past. At the first meeting the glee club was organized, and tho following officers were appointed: Prosidont.............. Helen Mullen Seeretary-Troasuror.....Forn Longwell Librarian..............Loretta Mullen Tho girls' first appearance was at the Parent-Tcachor Association Christmas program. Soon after Christmas, we chose our songs for the San Juan Basin Fine Arts Contest. With a great doal of practicing, we woro ready for tho festival which was held April 22. Miss McDermott was our director and Miss Keith was our accompanist.Wo sang Como to tho Fair and Grandfather's Clock . 4l The Gleo Club was highly praised by the judgos in this contest for its tonal balanco, appearance, and in its ronditionof tho songs. The price of tho subscriptions was fifteen conts for the year. THIRD ROW: Miss Burgoss, Jean Morris, Kathryn Chipman, Eilono Jonos, Ella Marie Flack, Miss Orr. 1 Being a Girl Scout teachos bettor sportsaanship; it teaches a girl the importance of being honest and loyal. The Girl Scout learns about animals and nature,and to bo kind and considerate to others. The Girl Scout learns how to live in the open, and to build a fire and oook with little or no equipment. She learns first aid. Tho Girl Scouts in Ignacio were organized the first part of this year undor the direction of Miss Patricia Orr Miss Loida Burgess, and now have seventeon girls who have passed their tenderfoot roquiroaents.A nuaber have now stwted their second class requirements.
