A day for Idalou students starts anywhere from 6:00 to 8:00. Students must shower, get dressed, brush hair and teeth, put on makeup in the case of the ladies, do homework con- veniently forgotten the night before, eat if there is time, and dash to school. Some come early to reapply makeup, consult on homework, or just talk, while others dash in at the last moment. For all students, however, 1st and 2nd periods are not always a successful bat- tle to stay awake, ended by announcements. Break follows, some trying hastily to make up for missed breakfast or homework. Third and 4th periods pass agreeably for most, although the lunch which follows seems far too short. Fifth period is also generally agreeable, but the two periods which follow build up a tension which causes students to be unruly and teachers to tear their hair out. For most, this signals the end of the day, but athletes and other competitors practice sometimes as late as 6:30, thus completing a 12-hour day. Who says high school students don't work! Brent, on the go!! 10 Opening — Donna. Renee, and Diana arrived at school Catching up on the latest news Angela and Jill touch up to perfection.
