Ill Most Athletic Larry Murphy Jody Pharr 112 3 Looking back over the past year, we all agree that THOSE WERE THE DAYS; the good old days. We have been told by our parents that our high school years should be the most rewarding time of our lives, yet we saw their statements in the light of worn-out nostalgia or perhaps useless sentimentality. Not until we really entered the life of Idalou High School, could we realize that, perhaps our high school years would be the most rewarding, after- all. We remember the special people and events that touched our lives there, we find within ourselves, the same nostalgia and sentiment as those who preceeded us. For who can look back without being moved again by some emotion that we felt during the course of the year? Love was vibrant in the halls and corridors of the building; yet sorrow was there, too. We experi- enced both triumphs and defeats. Growing up was painful; but no mat- ter how much it hurt, we all were eager to obtain adulthood. Perhaps our feelings were most accurately expressed by Charles Dickens when he said, It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” You know, it's tunny the way time can change your views. You remember that there was a lot of heart ache, but it all seems insignifi- cant when it is compared to the good things. Perhaps time is merciful and allows us only to remember those times which are good. Perhaps, it is only sentiment and nostalgia that makes us remember things this way. Regardless of the reason, when we look back at our years in Idalou High School, we all agree that THOSE WERE THE DAYS. Joyce, is il that sad?
