ft) . C. .i4yuy 3 70 (e- - siS The 1967 Wildcat C«vt And CovtkPtjv Idalou High School Idalou, Texas -a by Dedication In Dedication In a small country in Southeastern Asia, far away from the United States, a hideous war is raging. In that country, named Viet Nam, many American boys are fighting for freedom. Far from home and family, they are giving of themselves in order that others might re- ceive freedom and peace of mind and soul. These men are fighting the enemy of our own democracy--Communi$m. They need our support, in every way that we can possibly give it to them. As a great leader of our country, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, once said Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country. Truly, these men did not ask their country to do for them. They are doing as their country has asked them to do--fighiing and dying for a cause which rivals any other cause in the history of mankind. Because these American soldiers are giving so unselfishly of themselves, it is our wish that the 1967 Wildcat be dedicated to these fighting Americans in Viet Nam. THE EDITOR OLE I. H. S. Jy Superintendent of Schools MR. W. W. WEBB Superintendents message: Dear Student Body: Never within our time in this country, has education played so vital a part in our country’s welfare. Our emergence into the space age has helped us to realize, even more, the necessity for higher education in all fields. With these thoughts in mind, we should con- sider the past and the present, and have God as our partner for the future. I would encourage you to set and strive to achieve high goals for yourselves. Don’t handicap yourself by failing to take every opportunity to improve your mind and body. Do your best instead of just meeting the bare requirements. When you have planned your course, work hard to carry it out. If you are prepared, you will fit into the future, and it is still true that the future belongs to those who are pre- pared for it. Sincerely, Principal Of High School MR. DALTON VAUGHAN Principal’s Message: To the Student Body: In putting emphasis on the importance of academic achievement, we perhaps over- look stressing the necessity of getting along well with other people. To get along in a society, it is necessary that each put something into it that is accept- able before we can expect to receive from this society things that are needed and appreciated. Harmony and friendship should weigh heavily in the balance when a person selects the ingredients for his life’s mixture. Friendship should be made, not broken, but to be guarded with the vigilance that protects a precious gem; for a person cannot exist long without harmony, happiness, friend- ship and tolerance. I would rather be assassinated on the spot than surrender it.” Abraham Lincoln Jr. High Principal Principal’s Message: Dear Seniors: Idalou High School is destined to become a large high school in the near future and continue to be one indefinitely. Will it be a great one, or will it be just another school among the many? Although, you will not be here after this year, this could depend more upon you than you realize. This year as the graduating class in a special time in history, you face problems that other classes have not. The way you solve your problems is very important, for it will determine in large what other classes will do that follow. Your responsibilities as Seniors are tremendous because as the top class, the eyes of all others in the Idalou Public Schools and actually the entire community are focused directly on you. Remember you set the trends and by example show the others the best way to success. You as the ’67 graduating class will play an important part as EX’s in this new era. Your loyalty, wisdom and support will be needed if Idalou High is to remain a leading high school in this area. The challenges as well as the opportunities of today are unlimited. Let me urge you to meet these as educated individuals, facing the world with courage, determination and above all, hope. Sincerely, Ralph Motsenbocker, Prin.
