CLASS PROPHECY By: Carrol Parr and Yuvonne Griffith Dust flew as the ancient car sped down the road. Grey-haired, plump Mrs. Johnson drove speedily, not looking to the right nor left, while loud, shrill screams came from the back seat as Mr. Johnson socked one of their eleven brats for using his plump tummy for a slide. As they entered the huge city of Idalou, on the corner stood Clay Blakemore, a big-time gambler and play boy, with his doll, Earnestine Dotson. Earnestine's hair was now a brilliant red. As they proceeded on their route. Dale Jackson, an escaped lunatic, was driving wildly down the side walk in a streetcar with Dwain Nance, noted Private Eye” Detective following in a wild chase. Without further trouble they entered Idalou’s swanky hotel, Castle and Castle. There to their surprise stood bell boy, Kenneth Castle. Although he was owner of great Castle and Castle Hotels all over the world, he wouldn't hire a bell boy. After they were finally all on the elevator, they found to their disappointment that there wasn't room for the ex-champion, Half Pint Dwight Herron to get on to operate it. They had almost reached their suite when, to their greatest amazement, they met the blush- ing bride and groom, who turned out to be old maid, Mary Lois Magness and grumpy bachelor, Eulys Ray Kimbrell. As they finally got settled, George Howell came to announce that dinner was served. Finally, with some difficulty, they were seated in the dining room. Then, to their surprise, in tripped Charles Ray Vickers, the waiter, who spilled soup on Mr. Johnson’s now-bald head. In rushed the famous chef, Nathan Rogers, who, in a flood of French words, said that he was so sorry. While in an enlightening conversation, with Monsieur Rogers, they found that the great opera star, Carolyn Turner, and Allen Singleton, the world’s greatest ballet dancer, were now appearing in the hotel’s ball room. The next morning, in the gray dimness of the great city, could be heard the time being struck out on Idalou’s famous water tower by Eunice Harrison. She had once been the world's greatest pianist, but after a fall on her head, she now thought she was a drummer. They then made a visit to the park and found Billie Sawyer and Leonard Rackley, the city street cleaners, roasting weiners for their breakfast. As they walked on down the street they passed an Old Maids' Home and out on the lawn sat old and decrepit Bonnie Murray and her assistant Patsy Burelsmith who was just about as feeble as she. They were talking over old times. Continuing on their way they came upon the famous tomb of the Brain of Number Sense Elvia Lee Donnell. The inscription read, Beneath this tomb I lie because I lost my sense and tried to fly.
