The Senior Class of ‘49 CLASS PROPHECY One cold, dreary day, newpaper reporters, Diana Henderson and David Rackley were sent out to find what had happened to the seniors of 1949. We didn’t know what to do because some of these people hadn’t been seen for sometime. We drove around for a while and then we saw an old shack out in the wilderness and on it a sign read, “Fortune Telling’ We didn’t believe in such things but we stopped anyway. We saw a dark, dusty room lighted only with candles. “Please come in’’, croaked a horrible old woman, “let me tell your fortune.” Since it was so dark we couldn’t see who she was but at second glance we discovered it was Joan “Madame Fifi” Motsenbocker. Her hair was coal black and her eyebrows were red. She had ten wedding rings on her fingers. She said they all died quite suddenly. As she started telling fortunes she said: They’re having a fight down the road. It’s between Betty Sparks and Betty Neff. They’re fighting over Donal Seale. Donal can’t decide who to take. Most likely it will be Betty. Leon Jarrett (who replaced Doak Walker) has a dazed look on his face after he was tackled by Sid Scoggins, Tech’s great star. Leon plays for S.M.U. Leon’s mind was on Margie while playing football. Little does he know that fickle Margie eloped with Sidney after the game. Donal Ferguson lives in the mountains and he HATES girls. He raises donkeys for a living. He was quite a casanova. in the good old days. I look further in the crystal ball and see Carl Swenning an honor graduate of A M acting as county agent and advising his fellow graduates as tillers of the soil. Carl reports, “Life is sure easy now. Cha Cha Son.” Now I see a large stage and the featured Star is Dean Leonard the great ballet and tap-dancing star. He is married to a former member of the senior class of 1950 as a past time. There now appears a large college and they are having a football game between Idalou and Yale University. A player gets hurt. It’s a Yale star this player is none other than “Blackie the Bulldozer” formerly known as “Blackie” Mullinax. A nurse rushed to his side with love shining in her eyes. Who is it? The great Cleo! There is a large circus tent and in this tent a loud applause rings. It s for the “Acrobatic Trio”, Nelda “.’Feather” McCauley and Dalton “Lightfoot” Gibson and Joyce “Trixie” Caffey. At this circus an announcer introduces his “Dancing Dollies ” Charlene Embry, Edith Brunson, and Camellia Tanner. These girls know their business when it comes to hula-hualing in grass-skirts. (No lawnmowers allowed please 1) Janet Busby is working in a circus as the “Human Bomb”. She re- ports, “Life gets tejus don’t it.” I now see Billy Ross Armstrong and J. N. Sowder are a great ice- skating team at Madison Square Garden. Their stage names are J. N. “Sliverstreak” Sowder and Billy “Flash ’ Armstrong. Now I see Jo Ellen Barnhart has also taken up dancing as a profession. Spanish Dancing is her specialty. Her stage name is Juanita, Alphonso, Ciceron, Constantinopla, Jauna, Judas , Iscariote, Luisa, Dorda, Maria, Francisca, Jones. Louise Griffith and Billy Tate are manufacturers of a new medicine. They call their product “Tate Lax”. It’s good for toothaches, sore toes, dandruff, bed bug bites, warts, alligator bites, and love trouble. Glennas Jones is now a radio announcer advertising Mrs. Davis’ “Snookie Wookies” reducing crackers. Try these crackers to reduce your figure so you’ll look like a stream-lined blimp. Mrs. Davis states after eating these crackers, jumps up and down 285| times and do 29 push-ups, then drink 14 glasses of grapefruit juice. If this doesn’twork be a teacher. Miss Dorothy (Babe) Cocanougher is now a Social Butterfly so they say. It is rumored that she will marry again for the twelfth time. Her first husband was a preacher the last a bootlegger. Johnnie Harris is now running a “Dude Ranch”. Her husband Ben Harris became wealthy plumbing for the oil-town of Idalou. Her best cowhand is handsome BillyRay “Hartack” Turner the great rider. W. A. Baldridge is also a wealthy man. He owns a large Palm Beach home with 40 rooms. He got his start working at Underwoods Grocery. Now I see a large courtroom where a great woman lawyer is pleading a case for her client arrested for man-slaughter, drunken driving, bigamy, hydrophobia, theft, hit and run driving, feeding the squirrels Mexican Jumping Beans. But the main problem is how to keep him out of prison for letting his parking meter run overtime. The lawyer is Lorene Lance whose name will go down in history, her client is Charles Drake, the Judge is Mr. Walker. If Lorene fails he will be sent to Harold Rogers, the “singing undertaker”. He says most of his clients just die to hear him sing. Now I see that Bobbie Lou and Jerry Mull are making perfume for a living. They call their latest creation “Tennis Shoes No 12”. Here we are now at the last of seniors, Joyce Phillips and Katie Truett, who are house painters. They painted the school building with vanish- ing paint to release the prospective seniors of 1950 from an awful fate (going to school). The crystal ball is clearing and I can see no more about the seniors of 1949- We paid her and left and now as you have read the newspaper you see what has become of our classmates and friends, the seniors of 1949- THE END JUNIOR CLASS OFFICERS President......
