Jones, superintendent of public instruction, continued to play an important role in the growth and development of Idaho State. Governor Smylie was familiar to ISC through his numerous visits to the campus as Attorney General. The big news this year in connection with the governor and the state board was the passing of the bill to establish graduate work here. The governor pledged his support to this program and all others for the betterment of the college. 14 5,

President McIntosh always found time from his busy schedule to personally consider student problems and diligently work for satisfactory solutions. Increased enrollment and growth of the school made for bigger problems and bigger duties. Numerous hours were re- quired for conferences, board meetings and legislative committee meetings. Dr. Mac's easy manner and friendliness made him a favorite with the students. His speaking ability took him away from the campus often and acquainted him with many people throughout the state, especially high school students who called upon him for commence- ment addresses. Although young for the job of college president, Dr. Mclntosh displays adequate ability for the office. His genuine interest in students and the growth of ISC make him well qualified for the job. 16
