New teachers this year were Miss Iohn- son, Miss Broemeling, Miss Mitchell, and Mr. Ryan, with Mr. Davis, re- placing Mr. Dixon who accepted a position with the Weather bureau in Pocatello at the end of the first semester, and Mr. Nielsen taking the place of Miss Hodge who relin- quished her duties, due to a severe- ly fractured hip suffered from a fall. Besides helping with the Spud pub- lications, Mr. Ryan coached boxing. Miss Neuber again had charge of girls' excuses and Mr. Berry taught Student Council. L I - . The Merry Mix-Up Club organized in 1939, promotes various handcrafts as embroidering, crocheting, and knitting. Meetings were held on school time every other Thursday morning. Monthly social meetings were held at different members homes. The club sponsored the Fish Pond concession at the annual all school carnival. Producing new stage scenery, managing stage and footlights, and operating the public address system were some of the important duties of the stage crew. Coach Gordon Dixon resigned in mid- season with Ioe Call taking over. The new coach buckled his boys down to hard work and turned out a fifty percent season. A timely defeat over Pocy gave the Tiger a glorious ending for the football season. Coach Call is losing seventeen lettermen through graduation and is faced with a rebuilding year. Returning lettermen are: Don Anderson, Elmer Schwartzenberger, Don Parks, and Merrill Stone. Sev- eral I. V. boys showed unusual promise last tall, Tackle, Havermale, Coburn, Porter, Burtenshaw, and Elkington. These boys will carry on the brunt of next years attack.
